That's absolutely ridiculous - worst yet I think. Don't worry though - it's all fine, News at Ten's back so no need to panic!

I think they should aim to fix the late night bulletin at least at 11pm from Friday to Sunday - and perhaps move the weekend regional bulletin to the late slot too, instead of the Lunchtime one?

Anyhow, in a few years time we'll probably be back where we started with News at Ten axed again - and I think then the news would find itself back at 11pm.

Oh Brekkie, I just can't bear it! Laughing

Why are you predicting its demise? They are throwing EVERYTHING at it and unlike last time it would seem they actually want it to be at Ten, unlike last time where it was forced. This time it's all out war with the BBC.

Plus I bet it does better than anything else has at 10pm in the last few years.

EDIT: I just had a thought. Maybe Britain's Got Talent will succeed Dancing on Ice on Sunday nights?

BBC1 have already reacted with their Sunday schedule

- Programmes are starting at odd times, just like ITV1, but different odd times
- Early evening news is moved from 7.35 back to teatime
- Sunday's BBC News at 10 is not at 10, it's at 10.10 instead

I certainly think it sounds like an improvement. I only said a few weeks back that I'd like them to have a LWT-style identity for the weekends, maybe this is what they are trying to do. I reckon it all sounds promising.

It does, best improved line-up I've seen on ITV for quite sometime now, I saw the trailer for Echo Beach and Moving Wallpaper earlier and it looks rather promising.

Hopefully they won't fall into the trap of 1999 where they moved the News but had very little worthy content to reaplace it, although I doubt this is a problem on weekdays, the removal of Soaps from Sundays may knock the ratings. Although Dancing On Ice is a ratings banker, what will be when it finishes?

But saying that ITV is ran by better people nowadays and Michael Grade is on the right track and is intent on getting it sorted.

Britain's Got Talent maybe?
I know the live shows have to air in one week due to Cowell's schedule apparantly, but the recorded auditions shows could run over multiple Sunday nights

More on this 'relaunch' today. Simon Shaps has said the current branding will remain, but it will be the schedule itself that changes with new programming a and more focus on 60 minute dramas, with of course the return of News at Ten leading the way.

Considering the 2006 rebrand was known as "Brand 2010" that's not at all surprising. It's clear they want another two years out of it at least.

Is that the [itv|whatever subname] branding, or the current [itv|1] idents with the sound of plinkety plonkety, plinkety plonkety, PLINK, PLONK, plinkety plonkety, (you get the idea with that one).

Here's the ITV schedule in full for the first week:

http://www.gorillaenterprises.co.uk/upload/uploadFiles/finalitvschedule.gif

Dramas in shades of purple; news and factual in shades of grey; entertainment in pink.

In my view that is the strongest schedule for many, many years on the channel. For the first time, all drama is 60 minutes, the right length, and there's a nice lot of variety there. News at Ten opens up lots of avenues for good post 10.35pm programming, and The Late News on Friday means a decent 10pm chatshow or other format can be commissioned every week.

I imagine Britain's Got Talent will succeed Dancing on Ice on Sundays, then The X Factor (auditions at least). All I would do is shorten Tuesday's Emmerdale back to half an hour and restore that regional slot, really. Looks like Duel won't be starting till the week after this, or possibly not for a while due to the accident? I also like the US programming of Heist, Dexter and Pushing Daisies getting the 11.40pm slot on Fridays, though they could give Pushing Daisies a better slot (perhaps 10.35pm at the least, or 10pm on Friday) because it's supposed to be superb.

I'm interested to know where Benidorm will go when it arrives in March. Surely for such a popular show 10.35pm is too late, but at 9pm it presents an issue as it's only half an hour - what follows it? Also, Hell's Kitchen, will that wipe out the 9pm dramas? Or will it air on Sundays every week in a new format? Same applies to I'm a Celebrity's next series. It's interesting times.

Anyway, the schedule looks really structured, and I like how Saturdays/Sundays lose this structure and are free-er, it makes the weekends more special, as Shaps said. Initially I was dubious about these changes but now I really am confident that the schedules are now perfectly structured for commissions to just slot in and work. They can look at removing one Corrie episode later, but having that back to three nights a week in itself is a major plus IMO.

The 9pm dramas still to come look promising; The Fixer from Kudos, Harley Street, Rock Rivals and more. All in all, I'm seeing the channel finally setting its revival in motion. And thank God, because a stronger ITV means a stronger TV industry!

Lastly, did anyone hear about ITV being near to buying the rights to create Law and Order: London, with Kudos and NBC, for broadcast on ITV1 in a 13 part series? This would be superb, and apparently they will secure the rights to over 20 season's worth of scripts to adapt for a British market.

I think Benidorm might end up on Sunday nights at 10pm once Dancing on Ice is cut to around an hour as the numbers dwindle.

Could also end up on Fridays I suppose, but not heard of any other comedy commissions really - from the blurb they've suggested movies will take the Friday slot later in the year.

You mean 9pm Fridays for two hours? Then The Late News at 11pm? Possibly, but still, not all movies are two hours, some are longer, some are shorter etc, then you have to factor in ads.

I would think they should banish films to the weekends. 9pm Fridays I can see eventually being for Foyle's War / Midsomer / any other two hour dramas.
