ITV has commissioned two new comedy shows, one 'The Job Lot' with Russell Tovey and Sarah Hadland, sounds quite good. Also 'Great Night Out'.

Glad to see ITV putting some money into sitcoms, 'The Job Lot' is 30 minutes long I would presume.

I bet it end up at 8pm Monday or Friday

Much prefer to see it on a Wednesday evening (as from the autumn CL is moving to a Tuesday)...

1900 Emmerdale
1930 Coronation Street
2000 Play Your Cards Right
2030 The Job Lot
2100 Law & Order: UK
GO
gottago
Broadcast says that the half hour comedies are designed to go in the 8:30 slot on Thursday once Corrie returns to Wednesday.

I'm sure from what i've read before, Emmerdale is staying where is it on a Thursday at 7pm and 8pm, with comedies and other half hour shows from 8:30.

ITV are piloting a Jason Manford comedy sitcom tomorrow as well apparently.

'Naked House' stars Jason Manford as a recession-hit man who has to move his family back in with his parents – who have become naturists. Russ Abbott and Jan Francis have been cast as Manford’s parents.

Can they really make a series out of that ? Shocked

Broadcast also says :

ITV is also working on plans for a Comedy Playhouse-style season next year, which will comprise noisy single sitcoms with big-name talent and writers.

I really think if ITV want to make comedy work in the 8.30pm slot on Thursdays then need to have comedy from 8.30-10pm as shows will just get lost in the schedules on their own. They should have perhaps kept Benidorm back until the autumn as that would fill six weeks or so, paired with another 8.30pm sitcom.

I see Wild at Heart will be axed after a 2 hr special later this year. The tabloids are claiming it's because of Titanic, although to be honest I think its had its time.

But difficult to see how ITV are going to embrace that Sunday night, pre-watershed drama audience with The Royal, Heartbeat and now Wild at Heart gone.

Indeed, but they have to look round other channels too, on E4 most Thursdays you get The Big Bang Theory, How I met your Mother and some others, on BBC3 they tend to put their new comedies on a Thursday, and ITV2 always has Celebrity Juice on a Thursday, going head to head with these 3 would cause damage in my opinion.

Unfortunate as over due as ITV re-entering the sitcom market is I do fear this plan is doomed to failure and sooner or later the standard filler will be in the slot.

Really it is something they should have been doing when TV Burp was at it's peak - trying to pair that up in an hour with new comedy after it.

I honestly cannot see Comedies working on a Tuursday 830 - its isolated. To be fair they would would better with what I suggested for Wednesdays, or how about on a Sunday evening.... (whilst moving Dancing on Ice back to Saturday evenings)

I would still like to see 8pm emmerdale killed off and kept at 5 per week. I also think Corrie should go back to Sunday, with 4 per week. Sunday/Monday/wed/Fri at 7.30pm.
