Coincidentally had a glance at Nightscreen just the other night, for the first time in ages (forgive me; it is Nightscreen after all), saw it had been given this refresh - it looks better, I might add - but naturally assumed it had been like that for some time already.

So this is actually pretty much brand new, or were dbl and I just really slow on the uptake?

I watched Nightscreen a couple of months ago and it wasn't widescreen, so it's been introduced since then.

I think it may well be in HD now, too.

How much Did SMTV live cost to make? what I have to wonder? I remember something like this back in the mid 90's when LWT managed to get Scratchy and co to help kill off WOW. Wow was live and costly while LWT Scratchy was pre-recored and cost pennies

Surely the issue is not how much it costs to make, it's how much advertising they can sell. The restrictions on what can be advertised to kids is what scuppered ITV's children's output, I don't know how much on the CITV channel is original but I doubt it's much as it's just not economic

The biggest loss from the demise of kids TV is the TV stars of the future, plus I suspect the off-screen talent too. I think it is already quite evident that there is an ever diminishing pool of talent for primetime shows to pick from. Many of the biggest names on TV today cut their teeth in kids TV, but at the moment it is quite difficult to see where the stars of tomorrow will come from.

That is kind of true in lots of areas though - the loss of local newspapers, radio stations and regional TV have all reduced the talent pool.

ITV haven't started it up again.

Brian Cosgrove and Mark Hall (until his death last year) set up a new company with a new investor thus the new company is called Cosgrove Hall Fitzpatrick, and currently has nothing to do with the old Cosgrove Hall Films.

I think you'll find everything is either repeats or bought in now. Here's today's schedule: http://digiguide.tv/list/CITV/14+April+2012/

Three programmes are listed as new, and at least one actually isn't - the so-called new X-Men episode is actually 20 years old. Only Fort Boyard and Pokemon are new.

Yes they are definitely still commissioning original programmes for CITV though with their limited budget (only about £3 million a year I think) they certainly aren't cycling them out on a CBBC scale.

Not sure if this is the thread to discuss ITV3 but anyways;

I've noticed a couple of times since ITV 3 HD lanuched on Sky 119, there has been a caption put on saying the programme can't be shown on ITV 3 HD and asking people to switch to 226 to continue watching, does anyone know why? I seem to remember that ITV 1 HD show The Zone so whats difference with ITV 3 HD?
