Unfortunately it comes down to costs - due to a quirk of TV it costs them much more to screen the Corrie omnibus on ITV1 than it does on ITV2 with relatively few extra viewers.

ITV's morning schedule though at weekends is pretty awful now - removing long term staples such as kids shows and even the religious and political stuff just means the schedule has no structure now and it's pretty much filler all day now on ITV1 through to late afternoon. And don't even get me started on them commissioning yet another weekend cookery show - just what TV needs hey, and it's ousting a half decent kids show in Fort Boyard out of the 9am slot on Saturday, the best slot ITV1 (well, ITV Breakfast) currently has to showcase original kids shows.

I really don't see how Jeremy Kyle and Murder She Wrote could be bringing in more in ad revenue than kids shows (even a simulcast of CITV) would through to noon on a Saturday as surely advertisers targeting children would still pay a premium for an outing on ITV1 in comparison to being on CITV or the kids shows - even more so now kids shows on ITV1 itself are none existent.

I notice ITV's new Saturday morning cookery programme 'Saturday Cookbook' is starting this Saturday at 8.25am.

I wonder if it will use the same redressed set/kitchen set as Lorraine does, what with it airing in the ITV Breakfast time slot.

Ideally they'd probably want it to air 9-10am before Saturday Kitchen but crossing the 9:25am boundary doesn't seem to be possible still.

It seems stupid that they have this at 8:25am, then double Jeremy Kyle USA at 9:30-11:30! Why not air Saturday Cookbook at 9:30-10:30, even though it's a half clash with Saturday Kitchen, they could keep viewers at itv1! And I honestly don't see why they axed the corrie omnibus in favour of Jezza Kyle!

Maybe Jeremy Kyle USA has a good audience - you are assuming that it's doing no good there but do you have the audience figures ?

Don't think the Corrie omnibus on ITV1 has ever done good numbers.

Yes but, come on, Jeremy Kyle the uk was on about been axed a few years back and mows there's more of it appearing!!

The papers made up the story about Jeremy Kyle being axed when they heard that he was making an american series, assuming this would lead to him leaving the UK. It actually does very well in the ratings.

I expect the USA version does well as well, it's like car crash TV on even more levels than usual.

I have to admit I love the USA version of the program, I find the way the people act on there quite amusing on weekend morning .

How much Did SMTV live cost to make? what I have to wonder? I remember something like this back in the mid 90's when LWT managed to get Scratchy and co to help kill off WOW. Wow was live and costly while LWT Scratchy was pre-recored and cost pennies

The biggest loss from the demise of kids TV is the TV stars of the future, plus I suspect the off-screen talent too. I think it is already quite evident that there is an ever diminishing pool of talent for primetime shows to pick from. Many of the biggest names on TV today cut their teeth in kids TV, but at the moment it is quite difficult to see where the stars of tomorrow will come from.

Unlilely, because when the original Saturday Kitchen team defected to ITV to do Saturday Cooks, ITV cynically started it at 9.55 to get a head start and it flopped so badly it wasn't only beaten by Saturday Kitchen, but also the kids shows on BBC2.

That is very good news, and would teach the stupid people in control back then, how badly wrong there got it.

How many bond films have been on itv1 in the past year? I remember for years they used to air on almost all bank holidays, or at least bank holiday weekends, and were always used on Christmas day. Now they seem to be trying alternative schedules, their absence may not be that noticeable.

It has been a while since they've been a fixture on Bank Holidays but in recent years both ITV1 and ITV4 have had seasons of Bond films - though more so on ITV4 lately.
