Does that mean the regional news is hidden in the film again?

Sandbanks is a documentary about some very rich people living there!

A little more variety in the weekend schedule but still far to much drama and soap during the week. There's no need for an hour of Emmerdale on Tuesday and if they must have 5 episodes of Corrie in one week why not just strip them across the week at 8.30pm? I was expecting much more of a change then that, still I live in hope.

...not least because it will remove the 7:30pm regional slot.

But above all, any attempt to regularly schedule Emmerdale up against EastEnders is doomed to inevitable failure because one programme will end up being moved. Most likely EastEnders to a Wednesday slot.

All a far cry from the "gentleman's agreement" of 1985 which saw the BBC move EastEnders from 7pm to 7:30pm to avoid a clash with...Emmerdale Farm.

I actually prefer Corrie to be scheduled with 2 on a Monday and 2 on a Friday if they must have 5 a week. I wouldnt like it striped across weeknights.

Agree about the Emmerdale 1 hour episode though - Im hoping this is because they are recording 6 a week at the moment so have no choice to air 6 and they may reduce it. I very much doubt they will though. Also I suppose this means they can conveniently drop another regional slot without replacing it elsewhere, not that we had the Tuesday regional slot much anyway what with it being dropped for Football and hour long Emmerdale for much of the year anyway.

Personally I'd prefer it five nights a week at 7.30pm just to free up ITV1 a bit after 8pm - a move which perhaps is more likely to happen in time than with the old schedule. I think it's the fact EastEnders would certainly move to 8pm which is stopping them.

I think though as things stand it might be better having hour-long episodes on Monday and Friday instead of the two - at least that way it's unlikely the 7.30pm editions would just feel like a filler just leading up to the cliffhanger and the main story in the second episode.

And have the second half of the hour clash with Eastenders on Mon/Fri. Cant see them doing that. And also it would defeat the purpose of having Corrie at 8.30pm on Monday and Fridays which is surely to get more viewers to stay with ITV1 for the 9pm drama's.

Also nothing has been said that either the Monday or Friday 7.30pm with be fillers.

Millionaire is now 100% certain for that timeslot. The celebrities taking part will be Will Greenwood and Martin Johnson. with Peter Kay and Paddy McGuines.

Well they have been most Mondays for the last few years - so why would anything change now?

Re: Millionaire - I thought ITV were supposed to be learning that we don't like celebrities. As discussed several times, that's what's killed Millionaire - since it return with it's new format there been about 10 celebrity "specials" and probably less than half that regular episodes.

I'd rather that too - I resent ITV wasting an half an hour of my time between the two programmes - I don't watch Eastenders or just watch anything else they shove on TV at 8pm, and I regularly miss the first few minutes of the 2nd episode because I actually like to go away and do something else with my evening - and then I forget to go back.

I read somwhere that the two-a-night episodes would be "storyline driven" - the whole damn problem with the programme at the moment... Were no lessons learnt with the demise of Brookside?
