It would look so bland with a bit of a background. I think STV would benefit from centring text and logo on their promos:

God, that STV mock up is truly hideous.

The mock looks great. It just prove if stv did such a thing well it would loom hideous.

Not your fault - just proving plain black is sometimes the best option.

Saw this on TV at the weekend.

They may as well have used "Coming Soon", because Spring starts in March, and it's March now.

They appear to be now; saw a trail before the FA Cup coverage which had the logo set in a grey stone texture (and the "itv" cut-out) rather than the whiteish colour seen in the cap above.

Spring does not officially begin until 21st March. It is still winter, so the endboard is correct.

Moving on, and as much as I quite like the new endboards there seems to be some inconsistencies with font sizes particularly with the Drama 2012 promos - yesterday I saw two different drama promos, both with the 2012 opening, but one ending with a 2012 endboard (with very large programme name text) and the other the generic endboard.

Hopefully that's just in this intermediate period. Having said that, still baffled about why anything had to change with a bigger rebrand in the pipeline. Reminds me of when ITV News updated all bulletins to have the London skyline a la News at Ten, only for the VASTLY inferior yellow look to take over less than a year later.

Here's hoping history doesn't repeat itself, quality wise...

BBC Three's getting in on the act too...

I quite like all these basic end-boards being used on the channels now. Looks quite nice. Smile

Now you see, that's how a restrained endboard should be presented. Nicely kerned text; neat, logical placement; equal spacing. The ITV one is a mess, in comparison.
