lol, you've gone from stating it WON'T happen, to accepting it will happen but stating it WILL fail. Wink

Pessimism in the extreme Brekkster.

I'm keeping my options open! Very Happy

A few big if's here, but if The Bill took up the 8.30pm slot on Mon/Tue/Thu/Fri, the first thing I'd do if I was at the BBC would be move EastEnders to the 8.30pm slot too, with Holby and Waterloo Road moving to 7.30pm on Tue/Thu.

And then it's the BBC who get the crucial 9pm advantage!

Making The Bill more soap like though (in it's scheduling at least) is the last thing it needs to halt falling viewing figures.

According to The Times, The Bill will go 4 nights a week at 8.30pm with a new spin-off hospital drama 8pm Wednesdays.

Very original - its just the opposite of what the BBC did with a police spin off of hospital drama Holby City Rolling Eyes

Also begs the question how many hospital dramas does ITV1 need, what with The Royal and The Royal Today, and the rumoured new one? I haven't seen the Times report, but let me guess its title - St Hugh's?

The new hospital drama will just be pointless because they have The Royal Today. They will just get mixed up in peoples minds. It would have made more sense for ITV to do a fire station spin off similar to Londons Burning (or even bring Londons Burning back) then they cover all three areas of the ES.

Wait a minute - has anybody actually seen this report? A quick search on Times Online brings up absolutely nothing, and AFAIK, this has come from some random poster on Digital Spy. My gut feeling is not to believe it - just some silly rumour made up by somebody who's obviously very bored.

I'd absolutely hate for that to happen anyway - like Brekkie says, it's the last thing the show needs. ITV would absolutely destroy the show if they did that.

I agree with Brekkie that this moving EastEnders is precisely what the BBC would do. Makes more sense I think to schedule The Bill at 8pm, followed by Coronation Street at 8.30pm. And I still wouldn't rule out seeing Emmerdale shunted back to 6.30pm. I can see the main national news going head to head with the BBC at 6pm (same as at 10pm) with the local news moved to 5.30pm (Grade has already shown a dwindling commitment to this).

would make no sense at all actually. Coronation Street's ratings this week in the 8.30pm slot have been rubbish.

But this is the Christmas period - not exactly the time when ITV's audiences swell...

This would of course only appeal to England as:

A: bbc Scotland has a bad enough time trying to place stuff out!

B: STV/UTV has 1 hour long local news and so place that a 5pm will not make them Happy!

so Emmerdale could get dumped at 5pm here ( if ITV moves it to 6.30pm

Still unconfirmed, but Digiguide has been updated for 12-18 Jan - with Dancing on Ice scheduled on the Saturday at 6.30pm and 9pm, with Priveval at 8pm.

The Palace starts on Sunday at 9pm, continues Monday. Emmerdale also back in it's Sunday 7pm slot.

Saturday and Sunday listings seem to be complete, while the rest of the week still has alot of "TBA" about, especially around 10pm.

Currently at 9pm it's:

Sun/Mon: The Palace
Tue: Taggart
Wed: Honesy
Thu: Trial and Retribution
Fri: Moving Wallpaper / Echo Beach

10pm remains TBA until Al Murray on Friday (Thank God You're Here is on Sunday), while Sandbanks is stripped across the 11.05pm slot in three episodes. Celeb Millionaire fills the Tuesday 8pm slot.

So still very possible News at Ten will return that week, with Sandbanks probably bought forward half an hour.

I don't buy that. Trial and Retribution is supposed to run in two part episodes of 60 minutes each. I can't see that they'd put The Palace on twice, nor that Thank God You're Here will even be on the Sunday, it will almost certainly be on the Saturday.

Where is Duel? That is starting that week, probably on Saturday. Kingdom is also due back that week, quite where that is is beyond me. I still think Dancing on Ice will be moved to Sunday night and Thank God You're Here will move back to Saturdays. I also don't think there will be a Sunday Emmerdale.

Finally, Ladette to Lady is to start this week. Perhaps it'll get a 10.30pm slot, but that seems a bit silly - perhaps it'll move to 8pm, but then it's littered with strong language. How confusing!

Tomorrow we will find out.
