ITV1 seems to have finally found it's feet after years of reorganisation, it's the highest rated channel in the country with the top rated programmes - X Factor, Britain's Got Talent, I'm a Celebrity etc. Their only major disaster was Daybreak but that fuss is almost a year ago and mostly forgotten
Certainly I can't think of what the other 4 'terrestrial*' channels have done to get the title, although if Big Brother is the start of an upturn at Channel 5 they'll get it next year
BBC3 has done quite well too, it's done some great comedies this year - Mongrels, Him & her, Being Human etc and some also some great documentaries and Young People's Question Time. I'm not sure there isn't another channel that's had as good a year, maybe BBC4, ITV2 or Sky1?
*I wonder if that definition will change next year?
I'd say it's the drama which won it for ITV1 - after a couple of years of flops since Downton Abbey they've seemed to have had a run of dramas which all rated well and all got recommissioned.
I'm probably forgetting something rather obvious but can't think of a new hit drama on BBC1 this year, whilst their entertainment offerings have been fairly dire too. C4 has had a stinker of a year to be honest - BBC2 arguably the closest competitor for the title, but can't really argue with it going to ITV1.
Yes, and I really don't see the point of putting it on there, for what is fundamentally an industry award. It's really meaningless to the average viewer.
On a more positive note, nice Downton Abbey trailer.
Are they serious? What did they do that in, Windows Movie Maker?
[overusedcliché]I'm starting to wonder whether our standards for the mock forum are far too high when you see what's passing for professional looking presentation nowadays.[/overusedcliché]
Mind you, didn't they do something similar to the breakbumpers with some other industry award title which duly lasted, er, 1 day before someone realised how tacky it looked?
I wonder if This Morning has any tweaks? Most likely set wise given that the branding is still top notch thanks to Lambie's work!
If the website background image is anything to go by, it looks as if there will be tweaks to the detail in the design but the overall look stays the same.

There aren't any other such awards apart from 'industry' ones, and I don't see how there could be.
Sky News and the BBC have both added similar messages to their branding in the past I don't see why ITV shouldn't

BAFTA's and NTA's are 'public' award ceremonies. The rest are all behind closed doors - industry types patting each other on the back.

Firstly the BAFTAs aren't really - except for one award they are voted for behind closed doors by the 'Academy', hence the name. The same with the British Comedy Awards. They may be done on TV but the actual decision aren't and the fact that the NTAs are a public vote means that they aren't that well respected,
Secondly neither have an award for best channel.
Of course if they did and it was a public vote then ITV1 would probably win too, it being the most watched channel in the country
