I'm just watching it on ITV2+1, I think its just the way its edited. I don't think Mel & Madge are singing over some of the airport scenes but are in the hotel bar and Benidorm Palace. Just on a side note, upon reflection its very poignant being Mel's last scene before the actor died in real life.

Just a random thought..have ITV1 ditched the Lanterns ident? Haven't seen any played for a while.
Would the terminology be 'rested'?
I think any chance of that ident continuing has gone up in flames...
I think I brought the same thing up on here a little while ago. I think we came to the conclusion that ITV must have given in to the National Farmers Union who wanted them to stop using it due to "safety/fire concerns".
Shame as it was my favourite of the new lot and honestly how many people are going to copy something there've seen on an ident!
ITV wins exclusive rights to Royal Variety Performance

ITV has snapped up the exclusive rights to show the Royal Variety Performance for the next decade, ending almost 50 years of shared broadcasting of the event with the BBC.
The Royal Variety Performance will be broadcast exclusively on ITV1 until 2021. Since the 1960s ITV and the BBC have shared the rights, broadcasting the show on alternate years.
ITV has also secured the exclusive production rights, again previously handled on an alternating basis with the BBC, for in-house operation ITV Studios.
"As we approach the hundredth performance of the Royal Variety Show, this agreement marks the beginning of a new era for the Entertainment Artistes' Benevolent Fund," said Laurie Mansfield, honorary life president of the organisation behind the show. "We can look forward to the future with renewed confidence and financial security for the next 10 years."
The first show, originally called the Royal Command Performance, took place in 1912, with the two most recent performances – on ITV1 and BBC1 – attracting audiences in excess of 8 million.
Each year since 2007 the winner of ITV1's Britain's Got Talent has appeared at the Royal Variety Performance.

Did he not appear in the christmas episode?
No, he was away on some business deal, and it was revealed that he'd died whilst he was there by a telephone call.

I can't help but agree with a tweet by Kevin O'Sullivan (@TVKev) earlier today:
'The BBC heaves a sigh of relief as ITV takes The Royal Lack Of Variety dross off its hands in an ill-advised exclusive deal.'
Ok maybe not the lack of variety, as some of the show is very enjoyable, but I don't understand the point of the exclusive deal.
Why do they do this? I'd guess at it being a way to identify which brings more hits to the website, the programme or the CA but does anyone know for sure?
Just watched the brilliant episode of Celebrity Juice on ITV2, and something that interests me is that this must be one of the only ITV commissioned show that does not use the ITV font in the end credits. Surely with the producers being talkback Thames they would have the font available, and with the show increasing in popularity, it's strange to see this. It's nothing major, just something I noticed.
