Not really worth a new thread, but did You've Been Framed have a new look tonight? Only saw the end and caught a quick sting.

Yes it has a new look, with a new 3d logo and almost entirely new graphics. The music is the same however. The stings used during the programme are a mixture of revamped old ones and new ones. The colour scheme has changed from J. Sainsbury Orange and Argos Blue to Red and metallic silver. They appear to be using the acronym YBF! a lot more too.

I am not a fan of this new look myself.

I reckon it was for HD purposes

Pointless, most videos sent in, are before the days that HD became publicly available.

True, but at least the programme is suitable for HD playout on ITV1 & ITV2

But it's not going out in HD.

Not sure it it's usually on the player, but you can find the new ep of You've Been Framed here...

They're interesting new titles, obviously going for a similar theme, the obvious thing being that there doesn't seem to be any Video, DVD or even mobile's, just some space ships for some reason. I know the 2001 titles didn't use anything other than clips, but that was the idea. I just don't get the space theme.

EDIT: Looking back on them, I feel the animation is very nicely done, but the thing that ruins it for me is the overuse of that 'electric' effect coming out of the ships and attacking everything.

I suppose they did need to change as the previous had been in use in one form or another since the Jonathan Wilkes series in 2003.

The only problem now is that it will show up more when ITV show the repeats. If anything since Harry Hill took over it's become a good filled tool for ITV schedulers even used on bank holidays when there are only short news bulletins at 6.

Onto other matters ITV, did any one else watch the TV Burp repeat at 18:30 today?

It's not so much the programme more the break. The break contained trailers, not a problem there, but it contained 3 trailers for the celebrity edition of the cube at 19:00.

The first was third were the trailer that's been on all week ending in Sunday (could have said Tonight) at 19:00, with the middle one saying 'after TV Burp'. They weren't the only trailers on, but the way that it kept appearing was as though they were forcing it onto me.
If they wanted to make me watch it, they could have just gone from TV Burp to an ident & straight into the programme.

I wouldn't be too surprised though if they're just repackaged - I think they did that with shows from before Harry Hill took over - sometimes just simply repackaging the graphics, others recycling the clips into "new" longer episodes.

I can't imagine the YBF office gets many clips sent in thesedays, and those they do will probably be done on phone cameras which are not broadcast quality. I bet they just keep representing the same clips, hence why they blur the dates out.

For £250, you would think people would still send them in...

I've often wondered what arrives at Freepost You've Been Framed. Do people send in a 3 hour VHS tapes containing their holiday video where something vaguely funny happens at 2:41:26 and some poor researcher has to go through the whole thing to find it? I suppose tapes can be lined up at the right point, but what about DVDs, memory sticks and whatever else gets sent in?

How much legal work and research is done by the programme? In Beadle's day, they used to claim that no one got hurt in any of the clips. This claim was quietly dropped years ago but presumably they still try not to show people being killed or seriously injured.

What about copyright on the clips? Do people have to sign over the rights to their videos to the production company and give them permission to sell the video on to other producers and broadcasters around the word before they get the £250?

You can upload videos to the YBF website on itv.com. Although this doesn't have the new look branding.

I do know someone that sent in clip, there get paid a one off fee of £250. Every time the clip is to be reused a letter is sent informing the original owner of the clip, that it will be broadcasting on Exact date mark in the letter.

Presumably you send a cover letter with the details on where to find the clip.

They used to promise to return your tapes but I don't think they do anymore.

If you had something to send, surely you'd make a copy and send the bit you thought was funny rather than the whole thing.

If you'll allow me to stereotype for a moment, these people don't even know how to stop the date being burnt in to their video. I doubt they are capable of even the simplest of video editing.

Presumably you send a cover letter with the details on where to find the clip.

We are talking about the kind of people who would sell their dignity or that of friends and family members for £250. I doubt they are able to write their own name, let alone a letter.
