They're showing some new Heartbeat from the 18th July apparently.

Just going back to TV-AM a minute. I seem to remember them showing a feature film about Evel Knievel, anyone know why this was and when this was?

Do you remember the Chris Tarrant quote from just after the Sophie Wessex scandal? Of The Sun he said 'I never want ANYTHING to do with that paper ever again'. The Sun's sponsorship of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire was dropped.

On a totally different topic...

Can any Welsh posters confirm what the current policy is on ITV1 Wales breakbumpers which, as most of you know, are now the only thing which routinely makes the presentation of ITV1 in Wales distinct.

When I've landed on ITV1 Wales recently, it's been a bit random - sometimes the network bumper, sometimes the Wales version.

Is there a policy? Is the use of ITV1 Wales being actively phased out? Or have their just been a lot of cock ups and carelessness? (I'd certainly bet that by 2012 there will be no regulatory requirement for regional programmes other than news on ITV1 Wales but that's another, much more important, matter.)

Can't claim to be a Welsh poster, but ITV1 Wales bumpers will run unless there are "themed" bumpers on the rest of the network (I.e. Brighter Side/HD/footie etc) of which local ITV1 Wales versions aren't made anymore, so these will run instead. Wales I think only appears on idents into local shows, much like in England (exc-London) between 2002 and 2006.

Hi Buster, I knew that was the official line... but I've noticed on ITV1 Wales that the standard bumpers are popping up regularly now too. Far too often to be down to just cock up or carelessness. I can't help but wonder if the last remaining part of the Welsh identity around network programmes is being phased out.

ITV confirms Jonathan Ross chat show deal

Jonathan Ross to host new prime-time chat show on ITV1 from 2011

ITV has confirmed that Jonathan Ross will front a new prime time chat show from next year.

Ross, who appears in the final edition of BBC1 chatshow Friday Night with Jonathan Ross on 16 July, has signed to produce a "brand new show for ITV1". A deal with Ross was tipped last month.

The 18-part series, which is likely to air on a Friday or Saturday night after The X Factor, will air from late 2011 to early 2012. It is thought that Ross, who said he wanted to take a break after leaving the BBC before embarking on any new series, is understood to have been paid somewhere short of £1m.

That's quite a pay cut, but then again we don't know exact details.

As ITV are co-producing the show together with his own company, his overheads will be reduced. Furthermore, this amount is only for his chat show; he also did other things for the BBC for his £6m a year.

I think ITV missed an opportunity to milk a bit more out of him there as him basically doing the same as he did for the BBC isn't offering the viewers anything new. I think they'd have been better taking the risk of giving him a nightly post-News at Ten chat show (Mon-Thu at least).

ITV desperately need something for the slot rather than shutting up shop for the night, and loathe him or hate him, Jonathan Ross is about the only person around at the minute who could possibly make that work - and would probably thrive on such a challenge more than just moving his BBC1 show to ITV1.

What about Pauls show?

What about Pauls show?

well Paul is starting later this year - JR wll be starting Autumn 2011. Paul's show won't be on for that long anyway - only 8 or so episodes at a time I think. So can fit around JR's show if needed next year.
Anyway I think the current idea is to have Paul's on Friday 9:00 and when JR's come along, Saturday after X Factor.
