Really don't think it'll change the shows fortunes though - a clock isn't going to be enough to bring back the viewers they've lost.

What about a celebrity clock? Maybe a different guest clock every few weeks. They could have the Countdown clock, the TV-AM clock, Big Ben (the famous clock, not the bell) and maybe the ITV Schools clock.

Surely the programme was at its best when they filmed it close to being on air, be this the same day (if I'm right in saying so for the original 30 minute daily programmes), or within the same week.

As to get viewers back... maybe the only way is up. As in maximum prize that is. When it started it was the biggest jackpot to give away (even though Chris Evans gave it away on TFI Friday before Judith Keppell won Millionaire), in it's 12 year history it's never increased. Maybe a super millionaire idea could work. Especially if they introduced the time limit, and made it live!
I thoroughly enjoyed the recent series Million Pound Drop on Channel 4, and I believe that the live transmission gave it an extra dimension.

As Shafted was previously mentioned, how about the recent game shows that have disappeared. The Colour of Money - not a great format, maybe it would have worked better with questions beneath each colour rather than the stop the counter.
Pokerface had 2 series and worked well competing contestants against each other with the power of bluff, was there any reason given for this not being recommissioned?
Duel - I've got a couple of episodes of this that I watched the other week that I really enjoyed. I don't think that this got the backing that it deserved.

I don't think the prize pot is the problem. And I don't really see that these tweaks are going to have a major impact, although admittedly it's slow pace has seemed to contribute to it's downfall. It appears to solely exist as a vehicle for Chris Tarrant - all of his subsequent projects seem to have flopped.

Millionaire isn't a Saturday night show anymore, it's got a weeknight berth, and gets mid 3m viewers. It would seem better to retire it and try some quiz formats of the future rather than attempt to resuscitate it.

Equally, I wish the BBC would pension off Weakest Link.

I think this would bring the viewers back but I agree the pace of the show needs to change. Also, they could probably change a lifeline...ditch 50/50 to ask a specific friend in the audience or something.

It doesn't cost too much money, hence its continued production.

Surely the point is not the clock but to speed up the game? Making the early rounds more interesting... and possibly have more contestants starting is a good way to bring back viewers

For anyone interested .............

Katie Price Quits ITV for Living

She's a spent force - I think her 'celebrity' is very much on the wane.

You said it.

She's really only worth anything to "Dirty Des" at the Star, as it seems neither of them can survive without the other. Stories of her wanting to be pregnant, thinking she's pregnant, saying she isn't yet... > 20 goto 10.

Its pathetic - and hardly aspirational for young women.

On the other hand, Peter Andre's ITV2 vehicle is doing very well, showing him to be at least a positive force with a hint of talent.

And I'm sure the appearance of me in last week's show did him no harm at all.

True story.

Maybe not, but it probably set your career back 10 years.

Go on then, I'll bite. What were you doing on the show? Please provide caps if possible.
