There was a Carling advert at full time that made reference to the score (in audio only). I wonder if this cleverness was related to the problems on HD. Maybe someone was rehearsing the ad break?

There was black surrounding this advert (I.e. there was a black screen for less than a second on either side of it) so it does seem to have been played out in a different way than to normal adverts. The advert was not subtitled.

I wonder if the James Cordon programme will mention the problem on HD or if they will have been told to keep quiet.

EDIT: There was also an advert for bet365 which had live odds at half time.

There was no ad break though, it was just the sponsors bumper. As has been mentioned with the cue dots discussion, they are played out seperately. (Plus ad breaks are regional, sponsor bumpers are national)

When ITV1 HD launched

Going onto other matters across ITV, there have been a few issues with the coverage from the isle of Wight festival over the past couple of nights, namely a sound loss on one of the highlight programmes for a while. Presumebly this would be an issue due to it being live & having to transmit back to the UK to be played out.

The Isle of Wight is part of the UK, just.

There might be dips in sound too if artists are performing unedited versions of their tracks too.

I wonder whether they are having to staff Channel for this. With the reduction in the number of sub regions for ITV plc, their playout centre presumably has some spare capacity. It's not beyond the realms of possibility that Channel's feed comes directly from Chiswick, and is treated as a Meridian sub region, with the same output most of the time, but it would mean that they could drop in a Channel ident and Nightwatch quite easily.

It might be cheaper for Channel to get the company that handles ITV's playout to do that rather than pay somebody to sit there until 2am?

Is Channel branded separately during the day, or is it ITV1?

Usually its just ITV1, but 'ITV1 Channel Television' before local programming, which their still using the ident from 2006.

And IIRC they have their own ident at 9.25am welcoming viewers to Channel.
