ITV Discussion Thread

Heaven forbid that you would wish to discuss the design of such a promo on, gasp, a television presentation forum.

Personally, I don't think the winter promo is too shabby but you're entitled to your opinion and you're certainly entitled to post it here.

You wouldn't be saying that if it was Chie who had complained about a BBC promo.

I think the main gripe I really have with the winter promo is that it doesn't have a special end board.
I like it when certain promos get special end boards, anyone remember one of the Summer promos:

Even just an am amended version of the current end board would have been better, like the current DOI promo:

I guess I'm alone though. Guess most people don't really care what promos look like

Say and think what you like but I always respect the thoughts and opinions of others even if they differ from my own.

And I think you'll find that I'm a regular detractor of current BBC presentation (I don't mean to be such a miserable ******* ).

I wouldn't mind but this is the third time he's brought it up. Promos come, they're around for a few weeks, then they go. Hardly worth getting your knickers in a knot about.


It is a quality promo. How about suggesting ways in which you think the promo could be improved instead of whinging that ITV staff are simply incompetent and don't know what they're doing. At least they're not obsessed with carrying out market research and effectively letting the general public make their branding decisions for them.

I actually praise ITV more than most people. God I have a whole site dedicated to ITV presentation, so that says something. I think most stuff they do is good, which is why I notice when certain things are not very good.

I absolutely love their Christmas presentation, and was pleased when they used it a second year. I have a page on my site dedicated to it, full of images:

For most promos I think the current end board is fine, though it would be nice to see a new design soon, but please don't take that as me saying I think the current one is terrible as I don't.

BBC promos along the same lines rarely have a dedicated endboard - and frankly why would they unless it's for a special season or Christmas or something. It's fine to do them for occasional shows, but surely if the main branding is there for anything, it's there for the seasonal promos which are about ITV1, not about ITV1 at Christmas or something.

How come ITV aren't using the Christmas ident's into the news?

It would be inappropriate.

I don't really think they are inappropriate though - they're simple and haven't got Doctor Who anywhere near them. Are UTV using their version into the news?

Not sure about UTV, but STV are using their lovely ident into the news at the mo.
