I hope The Royal Variety Performance 2009 does not turn into a sing frest!

Relatively decent mix of variety, I would say.
Some of the bigger acts with the moving backgrounds or flashing lights really screwed up the picture pixellation though (on Freeview). Like watching it through frosted glass. Why do ITV1 get away with transmitting at such a low bit-rate anyway? Is there no low-quality threshold anymore?

If there was we'd have blank screens most the week!

Taped it last night so I could just fast-forward to the bits I wanted to see tonight - and actually found myself watching a good chunk of it. Noticed at the end though Faryl Smith and The Soldiers were being shown being introduced to the Queen, but I don't recall either being in the programme, so I assume they were edited out.

No they were in it. They performed the national anthem near the beginning of the program.

Oh, I fast forwarded straight past that!

Sorry if this has been mentioned elsewhere but I noticed on ITV 2+1 tonight that the ITV2 logo is on it's own but the +1 element is now shoved on the right hand side of the screen and is in standard text.

It looks as though it's in the normal place to me (as part of the logo).

Is there too much brandy in your mince pies? Wink

It disappeared a few minutes ago and has now been restored to its original position.

Well ITV have started their Christmas presentation.

Like many of us guessed, they have used last years package again.

I don't mind, it's a really nice package and it doesn't really get boring, for me anyway.

Better than nothing, although STV and UTV have topped them this year.

UTV have just used ITV's presentation but turned it red so its not that much different.

STV's isn't bad, but I still think ITV's look is better.

Well, I was referring to the other aspects of presentation too, which I think UTV has done better. STV's ident(s?) has a more cosy feel to it and the added bonus of far, far greater music. In comparison to the other 2, ITV's feels very detached and sterile, but that's just my opinion.

Here's a video of ITV1's ident anyway.
