ITV said revenues were expected to be down 3% in October compared with the same period in 2008, a dramatic reduction in the rate of decline, and far better than the 10% fall most analysts had expected.
If ITV's revenues returned to 2007 levels, and assuming the cost base remains the same, it would be £400m in the black. "ITV now has a cost base that's fit for a cyclical business," the source claimed.
ITV is still the home of popular entertainment: 993 of the 1,000 most-watched shows on commercial television last year were on ITV, according to research cited by the Competition Commission.
Mentioned in the newsroom, but probably better suited here. Tonight is going weekly on Friday at 7.30 from January, freeing up Monday and Fridays at 8pm. It also means the 7.30 Friday Coronation Street needs a new home

If there were Smart! Corrie sun/mon/tues/wed/thur at 7.30pm. thus free-ing up 8pm space for new and hopeful better show like whom You can guess what I would like to see.
With ITV News getting a refresh do you think ITV1 will get new ident's etc. at the same time?
According to MediaGuardian, the new look "is designed to complement the ITV1 brand by using similar graphics and imagery to the channel's overall on-screen identity".
It sounds like ITV News will be brought in line with the existing idents and presentation. I would have thought if they were updating them at the same time, there would have been some mention.

WHAT??? They are moving Corrie out of another well known slot - first Sunday, then Wednesday now Friday.

let me guess the return of the 30 minute gameshows!!!!
okay I fell for it!
anyways do I see ITV planning a 60 minute episode of Coronation Street on Fridays, and wouldn't surprise me if they do the same to Monday's double bill as well, thus freeing up Monday 730pm as well!!! - only problem there is that will then put corrie in competition with eastenders (unless BBC move eastenders to 730pm) and will leave the odd 30 minute episode on the Thursday!
