ITV Discussion Thread

The "brighter side" break-bumpers earlier this evening were also used in Wales - the slogan replaced the Wales text beneath the logo. (We don't get the 'Wales' text overlaid onto the idents anymore - locally-branded idents (almost always the 'Boat' one) are only used before regional programmes these days - but the ITV1 Wales break-bumpers have remained.)

Shouldn't they have idents and presentation to back this sort of promotion up? Having 'The Brigter Side' promotion doesn't mix in with the current channel's identity.

I know a lot wasn't a fan of the celebrity idents, but at least they were bright and entertainment channel like. How they can introduce programmes like the X Factor with the current idents I don't know. So dull and dreary.

I was going to post earlier that I think they might have been testing them or something.
Tonight ther've been replaced with Black "sparkle" ident's( like the endboards ect) with the brighter side underneath!!

...and now they've disappeared again.

yeah they seem to be a new one popping up , varients of others ones and now disappeared all together!!

DId they use the usual ident music on these, or something different? If there is a different ident, why are they using the old breakbumpers with the brighter side added? And why are they testing during certain shows & then reverting back to normal? Or is this just to add something different for entertainment shows?

It did seem odd that they only appear at certain times, but I guess 'The Brighter Side', while being perfect for something like The X Factor wouldn't be the first phrase I would use to describe other programmes like Miss Marple, Blue Murder, The Bill, Midsomer Murders, etc.

Which then kind of leads you to think why they came up with the phrase in the first place if you can't use it to describe half the content on the channel.

but it was a bit weird yesterday during the x factor - sometimes they were using the x factor breakbumper & sometims the old ones with "the brighter side" on them.

And tonight I'm sure they used them during family fortunes but not during x factor . IIRC they were using x factor breakbumpers and just normal ones durin XF!! STRANGE

I think what dbl posted is just a new breakbumper, not an ident?

And haven't they been a bit slow to do this? The Brighter Side promotion first appeared months ago and it's only made rare appearances since. It all seems a bit half-arsed.

Yep it's a breakbumper.

If the purpose of the X Factor break bumpers is to remind people to watch X Factor, it would seem a little pointless to show them during X Factor.
