Stupid!

itv must now found 5 30mins programmes at week: or 1 hour show from 7.30 = 8.30?, which means Emmerdale may move!

this what ITV must Remember: where would you put the bill? 9pm? and all that other ITV show Wink

I doubt it, unless they move the evening News and put Golden Balls at 6.30pm for an hour, followed by Emmerdale at 7.30pm and then Corrie at 8.30pm.

I have every confidence the new schedules will work out for ITV, they have been in the works for well over a year now apparently, and as such have been kept a tight commercial secret.

Mr Grade has said that the late news is not all that will move "you don't just move one part of the schedule and expect everything to fall into place - this is part of a much bigger move" - his words.

I am now pretty sure that there will be a lot of shuffling between 7pm and 10.30pm on the channel, but I have every confidence in Grade who was the man, after all, who successfully revamped the BBC1 schedule in his tenure there, moving stuff about.

That was a success and I can see this being one too. If CS moves to 8.30pm, I can see ITV1 putting a lot of power in the early evening schedule to keep it going, but I would think ITV are, if this is true, banking on 8.30pm onwards being the strongest part of the schedule, with Corrie at 8.30pm, the Dramas at 9pm and the News at Ten.

It's all up in the air though and this could all be much more different than we have anticipated - I do however think there will be changes and they will be marked. There are a LOT of shows on the books for January and even more in February, I've tried to work out how it will all fit but quite simply I can't - the slots are being overhauled and quite what this means remains a mystery as nearly every viable option leaves questions about the BBC's schedule coming to light.

Time will tell and we will know soon.

If ITV Got Neighbours they could have done something like:

6.00PM Regional News
6.30PM ITV News
7.00PM Neighbours
7.30PM A Quiz Or Something, Even Regional
8.00PM Emmerdale
8.30PM Mon, Wed, Friday - Corrie.
9.00PM Drama
10.00PM ITV News At Ten
10.30PM Regional News
10.40PM Comedy or even something like The Late Debate.

Assortment of info from reports in the media today:

- ITV has appointed the editor of its Evening News, Alex Chandler, to oversee the returning News at Ten bulletin with Sir Trevor McDonald.

- The new bulletin, which will be fronted by Sir Trevor, Julie Etchingham and Mark Austin, is expected Monday 7th January. Preparations for the return of News at Ten are already well under way with a dedicated team in place working on new graphics and planning. It is also thought a new special assignments correspondent will be appointed to undertake big stories.

- ITV source has spoken about the reports on the schedules: "there is a lot of information swilling around, most of which isn't accurate".

- ITV1 will relaunch off the back of News at Ten's return in a move that had been planned for a year. Michael Grade is in the process of shifting his primetime line-up.

- Grade: "News at Ten made "commercial sense for us. It makes every kind of sense for us when you see the 2008 schedule and how it fits in. You don't move one piece without everything falling apart. This is part of a huge strategic rethink to streamline the ITV schedule. It is part of a much bigger move."

- Shaps in October: "The focus of the ITV1 relaunch would be on new programming, although there were no plans to dump shows wholesale or change the channel's branding."

- The plans will become clearer over the course of the next week with the imminent 08 scheduling announcement.

1pm - 1am! and now there had to increase it!

I think they will loose viewers from 7.30, who will tune over to BBC One for EastEnders (whilst ITV has Who Wants to Be a Millionaire), and the viewer will stay on BBC One for (let's say..) Waterloo Road, so they will miss Corrie & record it!

What they have now I think is better. They just need good content at 8pm, to keep the viewer for 9pm.

I totally agree. The majority of channels at 8pm have hour-long programmes, such as the aforementioned Waterloo Road or other such dramas on BBC ONE. Why then, would a viewer switch over half way through?

KEEP CORONATION STREET AT 7.30PM!

Er - what missing slots? This new initiative would be:

7.00 Emmerdale (strong lead-in to...)
7.30 ??? The Bill etc
8.00 ???
8.30 Coronation Street (big lead-in to...)
9.00 9pm drama (potentially strong lead-in to...)
10.00 News at Ten
