Is it the first time ITV have done it though?

Also, did anyone else catch the trailer during X-Men which was similar to the previous generic ITV1 "entertainment" ad but seemed to have a much wider number of shows (TV Burp, Dancing on Ice, X Factor, Britain's Got Talent, I'm a Celeb, Corrie and quite a few others) and ended with the beach shot and "ITV1 the brighter side". Has the arty trail already been binned I wonder?!

On ITV's interactive content through Sky there has been a brighter side section showing the arty trailer followed by this one featuring its big shows.
It may be a ridiculous question, or one that's been asked before, but why are there penguins on the brighter side arty trailer? I'll allow BBC to use them on an ice rink in the UK, at least that's cold, but ITV's is a beach.

Advertisers know that people like Penguins so they just casualy drop them in things now to make you buy it (Or like it)

Also it's a little odd that a group of children are completely ignoring a penguin! At that age you'd be fascinated by it! I'm not surprised they're bored, they're not exactly trying to have fun!

ITV are currently showing a "Best of Benny Hill", the picture quality even of studio material is appallingly bad. Looks like it's been telerecorded to film rather than recorded to VT, and then badly telecined. Then uploaded to YouTube.

Location stuff is considerably better though.

How did ITV manage to get back on schedule for Golden Balls today? The football overran by about 7 or 8 minutes so The Biggest Loser started late but Golden Balls still managed to start at 5pm.

I assume they stopped advertisements, before I remember when Man U were playing a program was still shwon but in a shorter time.

Was this one ever released to cinemas?

Can they afford to do that? STV also had to catch up (which they managed to do) and they wouldn't sacrifice their ad revenue because of an ITV1 overrun would they?

ITV are usually a few minutes late in the afternoons anyway following the regional news. Due to the restrictions on the amount of advertising I think a few ad breaks during the afternoon only contain promos anyway.

Not much of a surprise but ITV is to end The South Bank Show next year. http://www.guardian.co.uk/media/2009/may/06/itv-the-south-bank-show-melvyn-bragg

I know its a worthy programme, but in all my years I've never managed to sit through an entire edition.

I like the arts, and I don't have any reason to dislike Bragg - but it just seems so terribly up itself.
