You weren't shocked really...be honest. Just another excuse for you to 'big up ITV'.
I was shocked to hear that Susan Boyle has been making headlines in the US, appearing on all the main news programmes and late night talk shows, who would have expected that?

Cant believe that she has got nearly 70 million hits on YouTube making it one of the most viewed of all time. Quite unbelievable.

To be honest it does make a change - normally its someone from Pop Idol (oops I mean American Idol) or other programmes of the same ilk that appear over here whilst our undercover talented people seem to never make it over the pond.
I wonder if the yanks have seen the Greek dancers yet?
Not at all, I was wondering more about that if a similar person appeared on America's Got Talent, would they appear here on GMTV or Breakfast. I don't think they would?

Something gets to me about the way those sorts of shows bring out the mob mentality in the public.
These sorts of shows are perhaps the modern-day gladiator games.

Does anyone happen to know why ITV1 West Country is now broadcasting in a higher resolution on DSat? According to Linowsat, it's now at 704x576 as opposed to all other regions at 544x576. Having had a look, the picture is noticeably crisper on West Country.
Is this the beginning of a move to improve ITV1's abysmal picture quality on DSat (*hopes!*), or is there some other reason, possibly connected to DSO in the South West - maybe using DSat as a feed for something??

Stockland Hill & Caradon Hill analogue have been fed by DSat since 24 March, but this is connected to the closure of ITV Westcountry's Plympton site at the end of this month rather than DSO.

I see - that would explain the improved PQ on DSat. Thanks for that Stuart.

Michael Grade has stepped down as Executive Chairman of ITV.
Michael Grade is to step down as chief executive of ITV by the end of 2009 to become non-executive chairman.
ITV said it hopes to appoint a new boss "as soon as practicable".
ITV, which has been hit hard by an advertising slump, also said it was taking measures to improve the strength of its balance sheet.
It is going to sell its SDN business, which leases space on Freeview, and said it had agreed terms for financing to raise a further £58m.
It added that it had no current plans to sell shares to investors in a rights issue despite speculation to the contrary.
In March ITV reported a loss of £2.7bn for 2008 after a huge write-down in the value of its assets, and said it was cutting 200 jobs across its businesses.
