I think that dialogue sums it up about ITV1: it sucks! Rolling Eyes Heck, the whole chucking rocks at the sky and letting holes of sunshine through sums ITV1 up. You have small bright gems (like Harry Hill's TV Burp), the rest is dull and tripe (apologies for insulting tripe by the way!). What a waste of time and money. Mad

ITV1 + dullness, never! Laughing

TBH it looks more like an advert for Powergen or Legal & General

For a moment, I thought it was a parody!

Surely they should have just done lots of clips from their shows?

There is one like that, I can't remember the strapline, it's either 'Entertainment on ITV1' or 'Spring on ITV1' or something.
There's also a new trailer for daytimes that has started airing recently.

So did I! It's that awful!

What on earth is that promo all about. It is very ill conceived.

It could possibly have made a nice 30 second ident with decent music and no speaking. The idea of 'dull scenes suddenly becoming brighter' is actually a quaint idea for a set of idents.

But as a standalone promo it does nothing. It's dull. And won't make me watch ITV1!

Here's a much better promo by 7 Australia - it shows a dull scene becoming brighter - and also all their famous faces and promotes their programmes too. Wasted opportunity ITV1!

Design really isn't that bright and colourfull these days.

Adverts are not as good.
This is why I liked the 2000's and 90's.

The problem today is that they for some reason don't want to use nice, bright colours, just subdued ones.

Dull isn't really the word.... drab is far better to describe it

That reminds me of the early Channel 5 promos and barker; very brash colourful, fun and everything that ITV needs to show itself to be but fails

The ironic thing is IIRC the whole "one to watch" campaign for 7 was designed by the same company who did the ITV1 idents at the time too.

I was surprised how poor this new ITV1 promo actually was, but I wasn't expecting much considering they hadn't leaked it online first.

I just don't get it. Advertisers and viewers alike want to see the channel's personalities and brands - it's those that bring in the ratings. They don't have to just stitch a load of clips together, why not have the faces we recognise doing something, a la The One to Watch promo or the celeb idents from a few years ago (done better though!).

It's got to be better than some kids throwing stones at the sky.

I actually think it's alright, it feels a bit like a public information film near the start but I guess it's kind of nice to watch.

I notice that the slogan's been added all over their homepage. The full length advert is here and it does have a programme highlights promo after it which also has the slogan on it so I guess this will make its way onto TV soon.

And interestingly when ITV made a series of idents based on just that, (Celeb era) we despised the idents.
