I have to ask What was on ITV on a sunday before 1992????

Highway, Surprise Surprise, Londons Burning and Hale and Pace were a part of my growing up during the mid 80s early 90s (Didn't want Highway though)

Highway? Not Highway To Heaven Laughing I remember that, it was awful

Ah yes, Highway with Harry Secombe. Him and Thora Hird were big players of the Sunday night schedules when I was young.

From what I remember Highway wasn't that bad, it was alot better than Songs of Praise, but as soon as ITV found a way to drop the God slot, it went straight away.

Anyway, Sunday teatimes, that was Bullseye's slot!

As a kid I wasn't overly keen on Sunday nights, You've Been Framed (at it's peak with Beadle) was must watch TV at that time, other than that for me it didn't really pick up until they started showing Coronation Street on a Sunday night.

I seem to remember Sunday Nights used to go like this

6.30 Surprise Surprise
7.30 Heartbeat
8.30 You've Been Framed
9.00 London's Burning

Certainly more of a variety than we get now.

Thank the 1990 Broadcasting Act for that, the regulation changed that ITV had to transmit the regulatory religious programmes but they could be shown at whatever time.

So in 1993, cue Highway being moved well out of the way of Sunday evening and went either to late morning or early afternoon slot. The programme eventually died its death a year later. Instead of Highway in the traditional Sunday evening slot, ITV decided to show big name films to get the punters in.

That is indeed correct, I remember reading somewhere Greg Dyke (when he ran LWT) was more interested in having Diet Coke Premieres than Harry Secombe, although I doubt that lasted long.

This was also the time when LWT were also backing the upmarket Sunday evenings, with programmes such as The Darling Buds of May, Jeeves and Wooster to name 2.

Heartbeat's first series was shown on Fridays at 9pm IIRC, that didn't last long.

Bullseye didn't do too badly looking back, the show ran for 15 years which for any gameshow is not bad at all.

I dare say it could have been kept going if CARLTON did not muck around with it! and moved to saturdays!

ITV p***** around with Wheel of fortunes, catchphrase, FF as soon as there did that there all got axed!

Crikey you do half get stroppy! Laughing

I remember when Heartbeat was on 7.30s - the BBC launched Ballykissangel around the same timeslot which took most of it's audience ISTR.

Have ITV ditched the black background ECP? Twice at the end of emmerdale they've had the now, next and later over the fly-over of the village instead of the black background.

I noticed that yesterday too (on Emmerdale). Could be a simple error but looks much better for it.

I think it was an error, as the black background flashed up briefly at the end of the credits, it did look nice though...

They also used the same bottom bar (AKA American) credits style for the dubai show.

I'm sure i've heard they were using them all the time last year, but i did'nt see them because i did'nt watch soaps.

Also, that might have been deliberate, because the dubai show advertised the next episode.
In america they have 'next on' trailers or just general trailers, putting the menu over the credits video might have been deliberate.

I'm probs wrong and just making a fool out of myself though...
