Monday's 8.30 Corro is a late peak banker...why would they move it to early peak???
...and a 60 min Tonight @ 8pm on Monday's would be commercial suicide!

Against EastEnders and Panorama it's dead anyway. Commercially having 5 nights with a good 8pm lead-in is better than one night having a 9pm lead-in with two (Tue/Thu) having nowt.

1) You're failing to take into account the importance of dayparts.
2) You're forgetting one of the main reasons for the 8.30 Corro in the first place was to get the audience back after EastEnders...your idea would result in Enders going out @ 8pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays...and basically screwing up late peak for the entire week.

I wonder if Gladiators will make a return to ITV considering it's being revived in America and Australia. Of course though it would have to be Celebrity Gladiators!

Also read today that Duel's already in a bit of trouble after one of the contestants fell off their 6ft high podium.

As Executive Producers though I'm sure Ant and Dec have no responsibility what so ever for the health and safety of contestants! Wink

Is that so? My idea would actually result in Enders going out at 8pm Mon/Tue/Thu/Fri most probably - that doesn't screw up anything. All it means is ITV1 put alternative programming in the 8pm slot, to appeal to those who don't like EastEnders. It's very simple indeed and perfectly viable. You seem to be suggesting all TV viewers watch EastEnders.

Grade has said the schedules will be more streamlined, efficient and overhauled. What do you think he means by this, if these said schedules have not been revealed despite the fact that we know all about the 9pm dramas and News at Ten return.

The "soap hour" at 7pm on ITV1 is commercially a good idea because it will give the channel a stonking share every day in that hour and shore up the average channel share. Even if 8pm isn't as successful against EastEnders, ITV1 can still claw back viewers at 9pm, or indeed at 8.30pm if they split the hour and choose to have such a junction there. The Sunday night schedule despite losing Emmerdale and Corrie would actually not suffer much because as I've already said, the demographic for CS/E'dale is the same as the demographic for Heartbeat/The Royal, which takes its 7pm slot.

Oh well, I'll throw in my worthless speculation.

If all focus is on the 9pm dramas and lead into the News at Ten then I can see 8.30pm being a crucial slot and lead-in. They have to tempt viewers to their 9pm drama's not the BBC's. Maybe they'll move Coronation Street there full time ?

I'd leave Corrie Mon / Wed / Fri / Sun and pair it on Mon / Wed / Fri with The Bill (trimmed back to 30 mins / 3 times a weeK) . Why does everything need to be neat and tidy and stripped across the entire week anyway ?

Dunno what' you'd put in at 7pm, maybe a quiz. But by pushing everything back 30 minutes in the schedule, and using Corrie tactically could be to their favour later in the evening.

I know the Corrie traditionalists will be appalled, but it makes commercial sense I reckon.

Mon / Wed / Fri

19:00 Quiz
19:30 Emmerdale
20:00 The Bill
20:30 Corrie
21:00 Drama
22:00 News at Ten

I see a slight flaw in those listings. Scrap the quiz keep Emmerdale at 7pm then there will a full hour free for the Bill.

I still think he will do a bbc on us:

Peak time needs a Gameshow NOT a QUIZ

Very simple?? Take a look at the problems of getting the audience back on fridays...hence it's become a dumping ground for safe repeats.

Less one off's...fewer but longer running drama's...

It's not a "commercially good idea"...it's an awful idea.
You're not taking into account DAYPARTS...it would make more sense for Corro to move to 8.30 every night.

Yep, but it's very risky and perhaps not worth the gamble. It would be a brave move though.

Instead of slagging off EVERYONE's ideas, why not suggest your own?

Why am I not?

Square Eyes, I can't see them reducing The Bill to 30 minutes, but other than that your schedule too makes commercial sense. Roughly, and ignore the Wednesday "Tonight" which was a mistake.

Problem is 7pm - sounds like the 10pm we have now - what to put in it?

Until ITV build a strong portfolio of programmes that could do damage at 8pm during the week, streamlining the schedule isn't going to happen.

At the moment the only show established in anyway in the slot is The Bill.

Trinny and Sussanah has hardly been a runaway hit - and while Millionaire did OK on Tuesdays, it's not really a solution.

They need to trial a bank of programming in the slot before they make a big commitment - mainly midweek light entertainment formats / game shows and ideally additional pre-watershed drama and comedy.

I think though another effective use of the slot would be to run things like the auditions for Britain's Got Talent and The X Factor over a week at 8pm, and moving I'm a Celeb to 8pm wouldn't be a bad idea as it slots in better there without dominating the schedule at 9pm.

I still don't think it will happen too - and regarding the football, ITV will have even more midweek football from next year with the England games and (I think) some FA Cup replays.

I wasn't slagging off the Corro to 8.30 suggestion...just giving a little constructive criticism for your fantasy schedule.

You're overloading early peak and screwing up late peak through neglecting opposition programming and moving the strongest performing show in late peak to early peak.

I agree BGT should be stripped 8pm Monday to Friday, though where Tonight and The Bill go then is a puzzle.

I still don't think the 7-8pm soap hour is a bad idea at all.
