I think they've gone for calling it ITV Player, because that's what a lot of people have been calling it already. Channel 4 will probably follow eventually now they're using 'Watch Online' instead of 4OD for they're streaming service. The general public will just understand better if everything has a similar name.
I don't get why C4 don't use the 4oD brand for their streaming service - certainly a far more memorable brand than "Watch Online" and there is no reason the two services need different names.
Havent heard of it as a music brand, although there was a band called that. It's just the kind of provocative name C$ needs, seems very safe at the moment.

What I would like to see come back and what might boost ITV's ratings for a Sunday evening is Surprise! Surprise! That was a brilliant format and needs a comeback.
I must say, in my childhood naiviety days, the way Cilla Black used to walk away from her last surprise at the end of the programme [say, two people who have not seen each other for 60 years] used to make me very upset! There is no jokes here: Cilla singing "Suprise! Surprise!" at the end of it brightened me up!
Now, if I was ITV Executive Chairman, I'd personally try to coax Cilla back onto ITV.
I guess like is often the case the name changes off screen before it does on. All articles I've seen related to ITV in the last few weeks have referred to the production arm as "ITV Studios".
