That's not the point. The point is with the exception of Dancing on Ice ITV have struggled in the pre-9pm slot since the revamp this year, a slot they consistently won in the years previously.
And when ITV were telling us how well Dancing on Ice was doing on Sundays, it was just masking the hole it left in the Saturday night schedules during the winter.

The only major change on Sunday nights is the soaps not being there during the 7pm-8pm hour. The 8pm dramas still air as do many of the same 9pm feature length dramas.
Are you suggesting the soaps should return to Sunday nights when they are on far too much as it is!

Commercially it's a no brainer really, but personally I'd just put Corrie back in it's Sunday night slot to anchor the schedule, leaving 6.30-7.30pm free for other shows. Emmerdale can stay put.
And crucially that frees up Friday night a bit - since Corrie took up residence at 8.30pm the start of the weekend has been delayed until 9pm, not just on ITV but on other channels too.

It would be a mistake for them to move Corrie back to Sundays - ITV have made their bed........
ITV never did show anything much other than 2 hour dramas on Friday night from 8.30pm before Corrie took that slot.

A mistake how? The schedule is a mess and for the first time in years BBC1 is completely dominating Sunday nights. ITV clearly didn't look past the end of DOI when they did their restructuring. That was a great success for them but they have failed to find a hit able to match its success. For One Night Only and Britannia High have been notable flops, and Beat The Star made little impact. Furthermore the Friday night double is continuing to dilute Coronation Street's quality. The show has admittedly experienced a creative renaissance recently but the double episodes continue to hinder.
It's quite possible that ITV confidently expected The X Factor results to occupy a Sunday slot this year and were well and truly buggered when Cowell vetoed that decision. BH was probably planned to be paired up with XF because it looks so out of place alongside the likes of Heartbeat.
Move Corrie back to 7.30pm on a Sunday to, as Brekkie says, help anchor the schedule. It'll give Heartbeat a boost and dent the Antiques Roadshow which is capitalising on ITV's poor effort.
On the subject of Heartbeat though - it seems clear that it's unable to attract big audiences without a Corrie lead-in which suggests it'd be better to put it out of its misery.

The fact that the Strictly results are opposite on the other side may be the reason as well
Personally I feel that Corrie should move back to Sundays at 7.30. The friday 2nd episode I think is the lowest rating of the week

I disagree. ITV shouldnt just rely on 2 or 3 programmes to prop up an entire schedule. It would just be taking the easy option to churn out another episode of Corrie on Sunday nights.
Also ITV moved Emmerdale/Corrie from Sundays as they wanted a soap free weekend so they would be going back on their decision if Corrie returned to Sundays.
