Bit of an odd one... Anyone know why the Sky Guide is currently showing Jobfinder as being on ITV1 at 10.35pm tonight?

It's listed for both ITV1 Tyne Tees and London (can't see any other regions).

Looking on itv.com, it appears it should be showing Real Crime.

Just thought it was a bit of an odd one. I didn't think any regions still broadcast Jobfinder, and certainly not just after News At Ten. I just wonder how Sky got hold of this information.

Freeview guide also telling that Jobfinder is on at 10.35, in Yorkshire.

Seems very weird indeed; I too noticed it last night on the EPG. I guess it's just a simple mistake, but... Jobfinder? Of all programmes...?

BSkyB has lost its legal challenge to the Competition Commission's decision forcing the firm to reduce its stake in rival broadcaster ITV.

The firm has been told to cut its holding in ITV from 17.9% to below 7.5% by the Competition Appeal Tribunal.

Previously, the commission said that BSkyB's stake thwarted competition and allowed it unfair influence over ITV.

BSkyB bought the stake in 2006 in a deal which effectively blocked NTL, now renamed Virgin Media, from buying ITV.

'Undermined'

In April 2007, the Office of Fair Trading reported that BSkyB's acquisition of its stake in ITV shed doubt on the independence of ITV, prompting the Competition Commission to launch a probe.

Virgin boss Sir Richard Branson, consumer groups and the regulator Ofcom all opposed the purchase.

A Virgin Media spokesperson welcomed the ruling saying that the BSkyB stake had "compromised" ITV's independence.

"We've consistently maintained that this undermined the plurality of the UK's media and reflected a systematic effort to suppress competition."

BSkyB had argued that forcing it to reduce its ITV stake was unreasonable and a disproportionate remedy - particularly as BSkyB had said it would surrender its voting rights.

It said it would "review the judgement carefully and decide on next steps in due course".

Just watching Crimewatch there and the mention of ringing Crimestoppers reminded me of when Crimestoppers used to air on ITV 'in the good old days' as a 60 second quick feature

When did they stop showing Crimestoppers and was it something that every region did?

Granada never had Crimestoppers, I do recall seeing it on HTV. Granada did make a programme called Crimefile which ran for a couple of years in the late 90's which was mainly like Crimewatch but only for the North West.

We always had Granada Comunity News or Granada Action, the latter started in the late 1990s, displaying the 1995 Granada logo and was still being use well into the ITV1 era after Regional continuity went.

Ah yes, good ol' Crimestoppers, I remember it well on TTTV, along with its equally memorable jingle (da-da-daa [/tumbletowermode]). That and Jobfinder of course. Sigh.

I think it finished on Tyne Tees around 2004. I seem to recall seeing it after the centralisation of continuity, not sure though.

Apparently ITV failed to put the first episode of Wired out in HD as billed:

HTV Wales STILL show it - every Sunday after the early evening news bulletin.

I've just read in Radio Times the upcoming series of TV Burp is 25 weeks long! Is that the longest yet? There's also an interesting insight into the production process and an interview in which Harry reveals Ch4 turned the show down - they must be kicking themselves.

25 weeks? Excellent news. Very Happy

And yes that would be the longest series ever - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0352110/episodes - unless they split it into two or three separate series.
