The new variety show, For One Night Only, gets a Sunday night slot at 7pm from next week - fronted by Vernon Kay and Joan Rivers, though IIRC they said it was guest hosted each week.

As for The X Factor - I just find the audition stage completely unwatchable now, and unless they find someone half decent this year it would probably be best for Simon Cowell to do what he does best and axe the show and create something brand new which is basically the same but different.

I do think the resurgence of basically the fun, no brains required, game show is going to hit our screens in the next year though. The BBC have Hole in the Wall and Wipeout to come, while IIRC when Sky grabbed Gladiators ITV said they had something new along those lines in the pipeline. Let's just hope though the general public get a look in and it's not all celebs, celebs, celebs.

Talking of which, is that it for Millionaire now the celeb specials are over. Also worth noting that this week marked it's 10th anniversary - a landmark completely ignored by ITV and the programme itself.

Why can;t there cut the number of soap in peak time, ( yes I know we had about the same number 20 years ago, but there were all over the day)

It would help free up some space and also improve the quitay of soaps

daytime it also Dire with that god awful chief and cooking

And this is why ITV drama will never match up to it's US counterpart...

... a show which possibly had promise ruined by the casting of Bradley Walsh.

Why would they axe a show which along with the likes of DOI and BGT is one of the channel's highest rated show (after the soaps).?

If you find it unwatchable dont watch it!

Also, good to see ITV putting entertainment back on Sunday nights, im used to it being a soap free zone now.

Joan Collins entertainment? I can feel the cringing coming on already.

Joan Rivers should be ok it's Vernon who would probably annoy me. Still, at least ITV are trying to bring back variety which is what it was once established at.

Laughing

Let's hope they give Joan a bleep-machine this time Wink I actually don't mind Vernon so much; he may be cheesy, but I think he's relatively down-to-earth and means well.

However this show sounds horribly like a rip-off of Britain's Got Talent to me Confused

Interesting range of celebrities giving opinions on this new 'Comedy classics' programme on ITV1

Ian Wright, June Sarpong... Michael Grade!

Unusual to see the current chairman taking part in a programme!

Thats what I thought too, to be fair Grade was working for LWT at around that time (ish).

At least ITV showed On The Buses unbutchered, I was dreading it was going to be cropped or have the new end credits, but it was in good old 4:3!

It didn't have an LWT endcap though. When they were shown on Men and Motors last, some episodes had LWT at the end, some didn't. Not sure why.
