I think it's a nice evolution of the logo. The only ident I've seen doesn't look bad either. Apparently there are three, with a further three next month.

DOG looks a lot smaller in widescreen:

I didn't know there was a new look coming so it was a nice suprise. I have only seen the X factor adverts and 1 ident so fat an I think it looks quite nice.

I'm not sure what to make of it.
I think the first mistake is changing the view of the logo constantly.
In my opinion it would have looked better kept flat for dogs, and multichannel promos, etc, and use it in a 3D entity from different angles on idents, and even have it animating in different angles on and off the screen, ala channel 4 you could say.
The idents are a bit plain in my opinion, as much as I like a clean look, the white doesn't look as good as the mixtures of greens that was used in the original package.
On to the endboards, etc. and they are just very sparse, but it is going with the white background. I think I'd have stuck with greens as backgrounds for both the idents and the rest of the look.
The thing is that the greens worked well. Compared to ITV1 where yellows wouldn't work as well, and black and white are used.
When they said that they were keeping the lime colouring, I was hoping for more than the logo and accents.
The feet and leg ident reminds me a lot of something else from another channel, though I do like the way that they wrap around the ident.
The best part of this look for me is the celeb ralent campaign, which is very well made, and the talent is quite good, part of me thinks that they should have done an old school ITV1and adapted parts of that to create the idents, which could have worked better, and had them interacting with the logo.
What does everyone else think?

And on trailers too. ITV4 has a 3D logo on break bumpers and idents but on everything else it's 2D - and looks so much better.

Because of the nature of the logo they could have got away with using the 2D version for the DOG. The new logo just looks wrong as a DOG, but it looks quite good in idents.
