But who should get it and how will it be decided? The highest bidder? or will BBC Three get it?

I suppose if it wasn't gifted to anyone, it'd be free for Sky and Virgin to put whatever they wanted on the third position of their EPGs - most likely Sky One and Virgin1.

The Freeview EPG would be a different matter though, and would probably have to be a PSB channel - as you say, maybe BBC Three or BBC News? I could even see Five rebranding and making a bid for the slot.

ITV could probably only guarantee position 3 on Freesat's EPG due to their involvement with the venture.

Having said all that, there are so many variables, anything's possible really.

Then..?

And I'm not sure what 'wasting money' means in this context.

Even more of an issue, what would happen on Freesat on Channel 3 in the event of this happening - considering both ITV and BBC would want to slog it out for the prime spot (because frankly, there is nothing else remotely interesting enough on the platform to put there.)

There are loads of new shows in this week's schedule, mostly factual as there is no point running an expensive drama in summer

Considering there was hardly any repeats in the winter and spring schedules, it's not a problem that they are using the summer to show some repeats

God they hyped that up big style didn't they? You could tell how excited Alastair was when they were going to find Britain's Most Dangerous road, by a fluke I thought it was going to be that road anyway, only because it's been on our Regional News so many times for being so dangerous.

Slightly OT but we got a Regional announcement into News At Ten, just the generic one saying due to engineering work for the Digital Switchover, viewers in some areas will lose our signal, or something on the line of, so I presume Winter Hill's gonna be off air sometime tonight.
