Don't think they did on every programme, the Airline repeats still have those style credits, as did The Bill on UK Gold when they were showing episodes from that era.

And for the hearts era weren't versions without the ECP produced (for sales abroad) - can't they use them now?

I haven't seen any on Granada for years now, considering that YTV were producing Granada's anyway I find it odd that they're still being made. I would have thought they'd been dropped Nationally, especially as there are next to no non-news Regional programming.

Do all the regions still make trailers for regional programmes, or is it just Yorkshire that do?

Interesting article in today's GuardianMedia about ITV's continuing proposals for PSB reduction.
The general presumption is that Ofcom will do nothing in the face of ITV plc holding the 'stick' of handing back their analogue licences if they are not allowed to implement the suggested savings.
Perhaps it is time that Ofcom took a stand on the issue. They should:
revoke ITV plc's licences in the franchises where they don't meet their contractual obligations.
remove ITV's 'gifted' DTT spectrum and EPG places in those areas (on all platforms).
bar ITV from applying for new licences for a specified period.

Agreed 100%. Particularly the second point -- in reality this should have happened about five years ago; ITV should at that point been reduced to the level of Channel Five, and the regional commitments taken into the hands of another broadcaster, with access to a given number of slots on the analogue spectrum. ITV get the rest, with the removal of the guaranteed privileges upon analogue shutdown.
It is still not too late -- but OFCOM need to act now to salvage anything from the situation.

On a practical level, in the short- to medium- term at least, I would suggest that ITV aren't too worried about losing prime EPG positions. People will expect to find ITV1 on channel "3" or "103", and I find it unlikely that those responsible for EPG positions would (and could?) put anything else in this slot. Not while people still have analogue ITV1 on channel 3, anyway. As for ITVs 2-4... if people want to watch Katie & Peter, they'll find ITV2. Consumers are capable of finding the shows they want to watch.
In the longer term, the outlook doesn't look so good. The number of people channel-hopping and stumbling across something to watch on an ITV channel will drop if they're no longer in prime EPG locations... and frankly, will ITV be able to keep making programmes people will want to search out if they're no longer on "Britain's Favourite Button"?

I'm not so sure about that. I'd have thought given half a chance, Sky would love to have Sky One on 103.
