It looks like someone on work experience has been let loose with photoshop. I agree its an improvement on the garish yellow screen but lets face it thats not hard. For one, the ITV1 logo is too big and just looks like its been dragged and dropped with no thought gone into it. Then the writing just looks misplaced. Theres something there to work with, they've just made a mess of it.
I think it would look better if they ditched the small ITV1 logo in the bottom left corner during adverts. Because at the moment their is the logo in different places for each thing. Before, it was either left centre for idents and bottom for ECP / advert endboards.
I think its an improvement, though it wasn't that hard to improve on the last set that did stick around for quite a while.
Part of me hopes that it is a stop gap attempt that has been quickly ordered, (maybe even by Mr Fincham) before something else comes along possibly in September.
I like the idea of full screen end boards, they're not the best, and could use more of the 'dust' over the black, which could be used more over the other graphics that have gone for simply a black background.
I do think that they should follow suit and have a simple stop gap approach with idents and use the dust and other graphical sequences with interesting bits of music and use these to fill in until they can come up with something better.
As for the credits on Britains Got More Talent, they were very strange. Though I don't understand why they didn't just play out the credits over the action.
Even though I hated the blue bars, for some programmes, especially daytime they did work well, but saying that, so could the programme specific graphics as backgrounds for such programmes as Jeremy Kyle, This Morning and Loose Women, where black just looks horrible.
Better and clearer there's no doubt but there's so much more they could have done with the sparkles - making them more prominent and some nice transition from the last trailer clip possibly?
They are nicer than what we had before... it's just there's not much to them.
Where we just get plain black for the credits and a black background with slight yellow sprinkles for the ECP, it's just way too black for them to look any good.
New idents and a bit more happening with the credits and ECP and these have the potential to look quite nice.

His documentary about Sandbanks was interesting, aside from him sleazily shmoosing with his famous "friends" who live there.
I'm glad he's getting a chat show. It'll die on its arse and he'll be released from his deal.
