ITV HD Border, Tyne Tees, Wales and Granada, ITV Yorkshire and STV HD do NOT have the CNWEST identifier, ITV HD Anglia, Meridian, Central and WestCountry (x2), ITV Channel and UTV HD do.

Assuming the latter group of channels is Chiswick, the rest are Leeds with them providing a clean feed to STV.

The regions played out from Chiswick and Leeds must have changed. I'm sure Central was moved to Leeds around 2004/2005, but appears now to be at Chiswick.

You'd have thought logically, that they'd move Central to Chiswick, to allow Leeds to take over UTV ?
However, it seems not ?

Pardon my ignorance but could somebody please explain what "disaster recovery" actually is?

Might want to have a read through this thread from 9 years ago:

A power spike affected ITV transmission (then from the South Bank) leaving screens blank. Took a while for Leeds to takeover.

Sounds like these tests are perhaps more about "Broadcast continuity" (ie staying on air with as normal a service as possible while things are going pear shaped) than "disaster recovery" (ie picking up the pieces and getting back on air after it's hit the fan)

Playout/Pres backup. i.e Maintaining your service(s), if the main playout facility fails/is evacuated/flooded/invaded by locusts etc

Yes, although it's a not a term specific to broadcasting, all companies will have some sort of disaster recovery planning - it can be something as small as having off-site IT backup to a fully redundant backup premises

Indeed as seen later in that thread, ITV had to schedule further planned maintenance because of this one morning at South Bank.

This caused no regional bulletins could go out during GMTV and they had to decamp from Studio 5 for the morning too.
And when the regional update during This Morning was broadcast, the southern half of the country got to see Central West which had a pre-prepared mix of stories from a few regions and was branded 'ITV Regional News', though the backdrop was still of Birmingham.

Well, this information seems to imply that Chiswick have taken over playout of Central - and UTV - whilst Leeds appear to have taken over playout of Wales:

ITV HD Border, Tyne Tees, Wales and Granada, ITV Yorkshire and STV HD do NOT have the CNWEST identifier, ITV HD Anglia, Meridian, Central and WestCountry (x2), ITV Channel and UTV HD do.

They seem to be doing another test tonight, 'LONDON' bug in the top right corner on ITV London. Most regions seem to have this except for UTV and a few.

I'm just reading through this thread and since I don't have access to Freesat or anything else for that matter it seems like they are testing the ability for one playout region to go to multiple regions.

Well they're back to Nightscreen now. Whose branding seems to be very on brand with the 2004 ITV1 look (the fonts etc). Has it had a new look since then?
EDIT: Region names reappeared at 4:30. Anglia has just swapped between LONDON and MERHEA

...... Anglia has just swapped between LONDON and MERHEA

"MERHEA" = Meridian Heathfield? If so, it's the usual gig for Anglia HD.

Or maybe someone was drunk writing the captions 😏
