I've seen the UK Gold logo in a couple of leaflets with a little firework graphic after it. Could it be adopting the same type of logo as the other uktv channels and having a little graphics that represents the on screen logo. Hope so, I think it looks nice and they should be consistent. UK Gold and UK Gold2 are the only one not to have them.
I asked that to someone working at UKTV a few weeks back and supposedly the channel director felt they didn't need one - simple as that! But I agree, the firework logo (also used on teletext) would be nice for consistancy.

I agree with you, the UK Gold icon - as shown in the leaflets and on other things where an icon is shown, ie, tv guides - should be there. It would make all the channels feel more like a family.

Does UK Style have an icon after its name? I can't remember!

Oh, and while we are on UKTV, does anyone know why UK Play was renamed Play UK? Why? It doesn't fit in with the family of channels, does it? If this has been said before I'm sorry but I'm new to the boards, as you can probably tell! Lol

UK Style has the patio tile icon after it.

As for Play UK - you answered the question yourself Mike 'It doesn't fit in with the family of channels, does it?'

That's exactly the point - they didn't want to be seen as part of the UKTV family (as for why, I'm not sure) and therefore completely changed their presentation, logo etc..

UK Horizons has the strange cross-hair lookalike thingumigig logo after the name, but UK Horizons + 1 Hour does not.  Why?!
Also I notice the UKGold 2 now has its own furniture (ie thebreak bumpers and captions have UKGold 2 at te bottom, rather than UKGold) - is it possible we have a UKTV insider lurking around the forum?!

Just to get slightly back on topic, it seems the ITV monkey is becoming very high profile now. He was the best thing on ITV on Saturday night, give him a series !

I think thats what ITV are thinking of,

copying the idea of that yellow puppet thing which advertised something last year!

I think he does. Wasn't it a brand of beer which was advertised by FE? As for ITVD sponsoring Saturday's schedule on ITV1, shame on them! (sponsoring themselves!)

The yellow thing was the face of Levi's jeans, and also reached number one with the help of a DJ. Oh dear.

Surely ITV Digital gets free advertising (except maybe in Scotland and Norhern Ireland)

The monkey is cool Smile

One thing though, did SMG and UTV broadcast those sponsorship messages? Presumably each ITV company gets a cut of the cash from those deals, so did Carlton put money in SMG's pockets, or are they advertising for free in Scotland and NI as well?

I don't see the problem in advertising their digital service on mainstream ITV. Sky do enough self promotion and advertising on their channels.
