Well they got more than a million people watching so that don’t surprise me.

Yep - though their ratings aren't as high as you might expect for a country with a population of 5x that of the UK. The US morning shows rate less than 4m at the moment. (Pro rata for population that's not far away from what GMB gets, and a lot lower than Breakfast)

The ratings for the five main US networks are much lower in general per capita as compared to the five main UK channels.

That's a great new name for the show.
Just have him and no-one else...

Yes - that was kind of my point.

A couple of quick ideas of what we might be able to expect from the 6-6:30 slot.

It would be good to have a ‘Newshour’ style programme back. Like these designs, super realistic.

Wouldn't it just be ITV News branded, not ITV Early News? News at Ten is the only one that has a different on-screen name.

Also, they scrapped a 5.30am bulletin a few years back, so I don't see an early morning ITV News programme coming back.

I doubt it'll be ITV News branded. Early GMB?

The ITV Morning News was basically just repeats of the reports from the previous evening's News at Ten, and the first report was often repeated at the end of the programme (as there weren't enough reports to fill a full 30 minutes).

Can't really see that working in a 6am slot. If they did bring it back, it would have to be in a different format.

If it's in the studio, presented by a GMB presenter and produced by the GMB team I can't see any way it would be ITV News branded, above what they already do.

We could have a field day with this. Looking to America for inspiration it could be...
GMB: Early Edition/News/Morning News/Today (again)

Although technically is there anything wrong with it just being the first of two "Good Morning Britain" programmes? The ratings would still be split.

Having a news focussed first half hour could draw more away from Breakfast, although it goes against the current chat/Piers rant that is working for them.
BBI45, DeMarkay and Brekkie gave kudos
