Though as popular as ITV2 is, and an ITV2 +1 service will probably work (well it does for E4), I think the service would be better used if it was ITV1 +1, I wouldn't care which Region personally, if they ever did then London would probably be the most obvious choice, but it would be a good to see a second chance on some ITV1 programmes, especially those that don't benefit from ITV2/3/4 repeats.

But what would the advertisers for the rest of the country think about the viewers not seeing their ads on ITV1+1?

Ah, touché...

ITV2+1 doesn't interest me at all at the moment - I think ITV2 has really gone downhill lately and was particularly affected by the launch of ITV4.

Would much rather see an ITV1+1!

does ITV now stand for Independents Television?

ITV plc seems to be more and more of a publishing channel (akin to Channel 4 and five) rather than a producing channel.

CiTV being sold off and only buying in programmes

Budget of ITV Sports being cut (although many of ITV sport programmes are now made by indepedents)

How much longer before ITV Production, itself, is solf off and ITVplc buy in all the non-news programmes - very much akin to today's US Networks (although the US Networks are going in reverse and are making more and more in-house productions!!!!)

A cut in programme budget still affects independent producers - ITV give companies money to make a sports programme and there'll be less money to give them

The independents only get the money back from making the programmes once the programme has been shown for the first time. The ITV Guarantees (legal documents) are actually done in my department at the bank I work for.

Yes, and those that do sport will be getting a lot less!

You'd have to replace the ads with general ones for use nationwide. Not technically difficult to do but a potential political minefield with UTV and STV probably putting the mockers on things (although there's no reason why they couldn't just run a timelapsed UTV+1 and STV+1 in their own areas).

I agree completely that ITV1+1 (ITV Replay?) would be a better place to start than ITV2+1. There's a genuine demand for such a channel in my view, much more so than ITV2.

In fact, I'm rather amazed that a bright spark at UTV hasn't come up with this one already. Imagine a "UTV Plus" channel with +1 programming in prime-time and a heavily-edited schedule, so they can put out repeats of their local stuff whenever they like. Definite potential there. It's a pity they gave up UTV2; they could have developed it into a UTV+1 with the best of ITV2 programmes (and without the garbage) and local repeats. What a way to build up your brand!

Would they actually "+1" the overnight quiz programmes then, some of the numptys that play these things could be calling a quiz 1 hour later. Surely a time delayed live interactive quiz programme wouldn't be allowed by OFCOM.

Plus as well as the big issue of adverts, what would ITV1+1 show when it's time for Regional News and variations?

Then there's the issue of News and time shifting that without any changes an hour later

How about GMTV, would they automatically get 7am-10.25am, how would GMTV like the idea of the ITV Morning News going head to head with the Newshour or ITV bosses seeing LK Today on against Jeremy Kyle?

I would say that ITV 3 would be the best suited for a timeshifted service, because it is drama, so no quizzes. I hope they take away ITV Play, because then they could free up some bandwith.
