The new "ITV4" - the channel ITV won on the Crown Castle mux - may now be home to a new kids channel from ITV, reports Media Guardian.
Having previously ditched the idea, ITV are now seriously reconsidering launching a kids channel to rival CBeebies and CBBC, probably airing 12 hours a day from 7am.
No name has been confirmed - though CITV is the obvious choice, KITV has also been suggested - and plans could be affected if the ITV / Nickelodeon Kids venture INK goes ahead.

While IMO this is probably the best of the options ITV have come up with, what I can't understand is how Crown Castle can justify giving ITV the space despite them having no confirmed channel.
Well, actually I can - money!
Firstly "ITV4" was supposed to be a women's orientated channel, then a gaming channel, then a male orientated channel, then a reworking of Men and Motors which had nothing to do with ITV4 - and now a kids channel!
While I think ITV need more space on DTT, they need to have a confirmed plan what to do with it. I'd stick the News Channel on it for now until it returns nationwide on ITV's own multiplex - at least this would give ITV a few months to think about what they are doing!
