Which ITV company from 1955 to 2002, had the best logo?

But like I said, HTV West could easily have been Carltonised on its own. Welsh AMs seeking assurances can't have been the sole factor in retaining the HTV brand.

Sorry for going off-topic here, but did ITV1 London not actually have a regional ident, albeit used only once or twice? It may have been October 2002 or September 2003, when the idents were refreshed.

EDIT: Yes, it was Sept 2003; http://www.tvforum.co.uk/tvhome/new-itv1-idents-6172/page-27

Does anyone have any screenshots?

That was possibly one of the most bizarre things that happened - removing 'HTV' as the station name but still leaving 'HTV News' in place until 2004 (I think 'HTV Weather' last till then too didn't it?). Then there were the odd conflicts - HTV Wales news became a Carlton Production, whilst HTV West news became 'An HTV News Production'.

And yet, that strangely makes far more sense than this which came several years later:

Whataday posted:
(It was rumoured at the time that during the development process for the new ITV1, there were plans to call the Wales region HTV Wales, with a version of the ITV1 logo created)

IIRC at the time there were 'leaked' idents flying around showing the HTV logo on the 2002 idents which were intended to be used in Wales, although these were probably just mocks.

Didn't S4C programmes continue to be badged as HTV productions for a few years after the debranding too?

This was the logo that surfaced and it certainly existed in a HTV Cymru form for S4C programmes as you say.
