ITV commissions 24-hour chat show

ITV1 has commissioned what it calls the "ultimate chatshow" - a 24-hour interview with a celebrity locked in a room.

The format, called 24 Hours with ... features presenter Jamie Campbell spending an entire day and night with his guest in the specially-built room.

The results will be condensed into six half-hour programmes.

Commissioned by the ITV controller of alternative programming, Layla Smith, 24 Hours with ... is due to air early next year.

It is not yet known who the celebrities will be.

Ms Smith said: "This is exactly the exciting type of format we are looking to bring to ITV. It is the absolute opposite of a typical celebrity interview - no hype, just real chat and a chance to get to know a star."

A couple of things spring to mind.

(1) Another reality TV show. I might be very wrong.
(2) A possible 'nother crap channel called 'ITV Chat'. Again I might be very wrong.

Boy this will be a success story.

Oh goodie.

Or if not 24 hours of chat, 2 hours of 1-word answers followed by 22 hours of sitting staring into space.

And a few years ago ITV had the 24 hour Quiz presented by fat Varry from EastEnders.

That was a total flop, and the presenter was so poor, (who had problems even reading a few lines) a Tree could have done a better job.

Who's Jamie Cambell? Never heard of him.

Sounds like 24hr GMTV today or this morning.

This was announced ages ago. So, can we expect Madonna, Bill Clinton and Tom Cruise...

Or David Guest, Michael Barrymore and Christine Hamilton....

Actually, i think I'd prefer to watch an interview with the latter.

I personally don't see the point, i guess it would be a tad better if it was streamed live for 24hrs over ITV 1 and 2.

First guests, Peter Andre and Jordan Only joking... but satire often becomes reality, so it wouldn't surprise me

Ms Smith needs to get out more if she thinks this is exciting. 24 Hours With... let me guess Jan Leeming, Dean Gaffeny, Sharon Osbourne, Nikki from Big Brother. When is this constant crap going to cease?

Never mind a 24 hour ITV chat show - how about a one hour one - ie. give us Letterman back!
