What's the big deal with single camera production? By definition, it must take longer to shoot. Which means having to record scenes "by shot" - rather than a continuous stage-like performance which is what you'd get with multiple cameras.

When they say "single-camera" they mean as opposed to a multi-camera studio based comedy.

It does take longer to shoot, but looks better for it. Each shot is properly lit, and it offers much more variety in the takes for the editor to choose from.
Its a perfect format for shooting cinéma vérité style productions. (A method of documentary filming, using aleatory, direct methods which do not interfere with the way events take place in reality. Such films are made with a minimum of equipment, usually a hand‑held camera and portable sound apparatus).
Adds to the realism, and would lend itself well to a "behind the scenes" type of drama.

Edited.
I have a username as well, but I guess I can live with "the opening poster".
I said the opening poster because I didnt want people to think I was making a personal attack on you personally.
