ITV Idents (Post Christmas)

Yep, definitely a different soundtrack on it from the Channel version posted above. Version as aired on Granada this evening:-

The tautological sounding/looking names like "ITV Channel Television" and "ITV News Channel TV" annoy me. Ending with "...Islands" would look/sound heaps better.

Interesting there's a little nod to it still being Channel Television rather than just incorporating the Channel Islands in the name. Very ITV Carlton for the east of England from the early days of the unified identity.

Nice to see Liar use its own credits background last night.

I thought this thread was just for idents and promo while programme thread was about programme and anything linked to programmes like titles, content, Credits or endcaps Or is is more grey than that.

That particular post was about a programme deviating from the standard generic credits style, which is part of the current ITV graphics package. I don't know why they only changed the font, but kept the black background, after the logo change four years ago. The black background matched the old pres, but not the current set, which is white. Would be better if programmes were allowed their own backgrounds, or at least a choice of colours - the current ITV logo can be any combination of colours after all. For example, Emmerdale and I'm A Celeb would use green, X Factor would use red, Dancing on Ice blue.

It is annoying that all programmes (or most) still have to use black background with white text credits and are not allowed any creativity, but I guess from ITV's point of view its easier this way as they just need one set of guidelines for all programmes and its easier to make sure everything is kept legible during credit squeezing etc

I still wish they would relax it a little at least, we've seen from the credits on Broadchurch how nice a different background can look, even though the font was kept the same.

I hope itv refresh soon like they refreshed itv2 in 2015 2 years after the rebrand

Agreed. WHY?! With ITV2 their refresh was to do with a change in programming and wanting to realign it's tone of voice away from being a sister channel to ITV.
