Remember the early days of National ITV continuity in 2002? Apart from the two live announcers covering early and late shifts there was also a third announcer who just recorded all the regional continuity for each day including the news intros. Saying that in 2002 there would still have been more local daily opt outs for programmes particularly in the afternoon.

To be honest though the current system works ok and IMO it seems a wasted exercise - for many years there was no announcement into the news just straight into titles after a 'menu announcement'. Its a nice effort to have a touch of regional continuity but its not essential.

Yes and it looked very sloppy.

Every other programme got properly introduced, but they cared so little about the regional news it just came straight on.

Much better now.

I really like the ITV logo like this, better than the original colours. Would be nice to see what it would look like with another gradient.

I agree, it's just the idents, such a let down IMO. They'yre just lazy, the video footage, and the music.

Maybe the money is being spent on the new UTV/itv idents. Mind you has anyone else notice there using any ident from the seasons.

It's not just these, it's the ones since 2013.

Where's the big proud style LWT idents we used to have, where they was bold and exciting. Even the Carlton 2001 idents, and many others.

To me, there's no sense of pride in these idents.

Indeed ... it's a case of filming some random meaningless gubbins then slap a logo on it!

The problem has always been there no proper symbol for ITV or logo unlike the old ITV regional compaines. The BBC 1 also headed the same way it. The strange thing is the two best branding is two and four because there make great use of there logo. " 2 " while the 4, someone had to really explain this part of this to me, the blocks you see and that included the four strange idents which if you look closely enough will spot blocks all over the place, are of course of the Ch4 logo.

Lets not get to pink tinted here, who could forget this outstanding ident which was so good it lasted nearly 30 years.....



while Grampian used the ITV 1989 ident for 10 year, of course it was only mainly used for the news or very important programmes, instead using IVCA.

I mentioned the fish and chips ident 2 pages back last Saturday, but didn't have a screenshot of it.

I don't understand why the pugwash ident got the full works for super saturdays with sparkles, lights, different colours etc, whereas all the others just seem to have a recoloured logo and different music used.

Does that mean it first appeared on 24th April?

ITV using a different colour gradient on their logo at the8pm junction before BGT, rather than the SUPER SATURDAY colours.

It's summer-esque!?
