Before Coronation Street + Border Life, there has been mention of "Borders ITV" on Border Scotland. A nice change to hear that.

Could this be the start of the return of regional continuity to ITV screens?

In a word, no.

Presumably it was just because it was before a regional programme so had a seperate announcement

Ooh just seen a new ITV 'Where drama lives' sting before Broadchurch. Looked very nice. Wasn't able to capture it though.

It was just a short sting (like they used to do with Drama Premieres). Nothing too spectacular - just the logo and tagline getting a bit of a 3D effect.

This is quite sad, but there is so much talk about why ITV schedules run as they do, why certain programmes start late, why some start early, why some have no adverts etc that I recorded the whole prime time schedule yesterday and then fast forwarded it all back (in less than 30 mins) noting down the timings.

And it all makes sense. It's quite interesting how it all fits together, that you don't notice when you are watching at home.

ITV are allowed 40 mins of adverts in prime time (6pm-11pm) but no more than 12 mins in each hour

Typically, of all the nights to do this, ITV actually exceeded their prime time ad quota last night, they aired a break at 22:55 in the Cricket World Cup Highlights meaning they were 3 mins 30 above the allowed quantity. This break should have been at 23:00 or later.

6pm hour they showed 3 mins 30 of adverts
7pm hour they showed 12 mins, the maximum limit allowed by Ofcom
8pm hour they showed 9 mins 50
9 pm hour they showed 10 mins 30
10pm hour they showed 7 mins 40 (it should have been 4 mins 10)
Total - 43 mins 30 (should have been 40 mins)

Exact programme timings were

18:00 Regional News
18:30 ITV Evening News
18:59 Emmerdale
19:31 Coronation Street
20:03 Tales from Northumberland
20:29 Coronation Street
21:00 Broadchurch
22:04 ITV News at Ten
22:34 Regional News
22:45 Cricket World Cup Highlights

Regional News is 30 mins at teatime and 11 mins for the late, both including the regional weather
ITV News was 22 mins 30 for the Evening News and 27 mins 30 for News at Ten
ITV National Weather was 2 mins after the Evening News and 1 min after News at Ten

Those lengths for the national news and weather will vary from one night to another I expect

Hopefully this is of some interest.

STV has no ad breaks until after the 22.12, until 23.05. I expect this to the be the case when Angeda is on?

You should trying doing this during BGT day weekday and Saturday. Wink

Naughty naughty ITV. Is 11 minutes of late regional news the norm - I thought it had been cut to around 6 minutes. I suspect 41 minutes is on a par with the BBC for primetime regional news then, and they're probably neck and neck on the national news too.

Well last night was almost as typical a prime time weekday could be with no football and no extreme weak programmes. Except for the cricket highlights which messed it up. BGT is live so might mess up the timings as well.

There was a 40 second break in News at Ten consisting of one advert.

I can see that advert disappearing come the late march. Even during BGT you might get to see some clever use of the slots.

The Brits have some new break bumpers, this year on ITV.
