I think what ITV branding has always lacked is a symbol. This is an issue Carlton encountered, considering most ITV stations had a symbol of their own, hence the star motif designed by Lambie-Nairn. If you look at US networks, their symbols have endured decades with only minimal alteration - the NBC Peacock for example. Likewise, the Granada 'G' saw over 30 years service with near enough no alterations at all, likewise the Yorkshire Chevron. ITV, on the other hand, has had five logos over the last 30 years; albeit, the 80s rainbow one was only ever quasi-official.

The Gallery is for complete mock pres packages, not odds and ends that just come up during discussion - nwtv2003 mentioned adapting the 1989 logo for ITV2... that was a challenge I couldn't resist. Of course a professional mocker like you could do better...
... as long as it's in The Gallery, of course
Well please learn some restraint, as you keep doing it, and it's certainly not the first time that it's been because of temptation...
That's more down to your mocking skill rather than it being an inherent problem. Speaking of which, why do you keep having to punctuate posts with a mock you've knocked up? That's what The Gallery's for.

This was just far too obvious an idea to leave hanging around

You both have valid points, however this does seem to be relevant to the existing discussion but on the whole mocks in discussion threads are discouraged.

Did anyone else see the new ident before tonights first ep of Emmerdale?
It was a dog lying infront of a fire with a box on its neck. Quite nice and sombre, apart from the music. The same music as used in the Santa Carousel ident. The music is quite upbeat whereas the ident could do with something a bit slower.
Has anyone seen any other new idents this christmas?

There was a new one at the weekend, people playing a board game. And I noticed that the bulldog ident had a change of music tonight.

I noticed that this hasn't been posted; on Christmas Day before 'Elf: Buddy's Musical Christmas' the ITV ident was interrupted by a message from 'International Rescue' it seems like a similar idea to BBC One Doctor Who idents to promote the upcoming new series of Thunderbirds.
