Even though the regional news is only 5 mins long they are still scheduling it in a 15 mins slot on a Sunday.

The trailer padding was particularly bad tonight, there was at least 7 back to back before the regional news, at least 9 back to back between the regional and national news including long trailers like the ITV Family one and the ITV4 Yesvember one, and about half a dozen after the national news. I don't know how this has managed to persist for so long.

If they must only produce 5mins of regional news on a Sunday, then at least schedule accordingly. Or show a cartoon!

STV tends to be a bit better, with around 5-7 mins of news then the weather aswell which takes them up to 9mins, so its 3mins of padding promos either side. Of course for them, that just means Programme promo, STV daytime promo or STV Life promo and player promo Razz

It used to be almost the full 15 minutes when STV used to include the Signed News Review at the end of the bulletin...

Has the Signed review not gone completely? it used to go out overnight.

Yeah it's long gone, I always remember Scotland This Week used to go out on a Sunday at 4.30am and ran until 5.30am....

I assumed STV were the reason why they were still scheduling a longer slot on the network. Does anyone fill the news slot better? Maybe ITV Wales or UTV?

If Channel TV hadn't axed Puffin's Pla(I)ce they wouldn't have trouble fitting it in anymore like they had in the past.

It's due to UTV's 'National' bulletin from what I've just read on Wikipedia (I admit not the best source but probably the best available). ITV Wales have the same length as the English regions, so not sure why UTV have to provide extra? The set up is bizarre to say the least...just like the 6pm weekday programmes. Many have stated that 2014's ratings aren't much lower than 2004 so surely ITV can afford to provide a decent Regional News service etc throughout the week.

Then we've got the government trying to kill the BBC too?!

And the ITV Family trailer mentioned the England-Scotland friendly - which had a full trailer shown immediately afterwards!

Page 42 of the latest Ofcom Broadcast Bulletin reveals that someone complained about ITV's channel ident, under the complaint category "violence and dangerous behaviour". Shocked Ofcom is not taking the matter further. http://stakeholders.ofcom.org.uk/binaries/enforcement/broadcast-bulletins/obb267/obb267.pdf
