I'm glad ITV put an effort into it this year apart from the droney music (I guess they didn't want to part with the music Very Happy ). Do ITV2, ITV3 and ITV4 have Christmas idents too.

ITV2 have a sparkly breakbumper (the regular BB with sparkles flying out) but no idents.

I don't understand why they don't just use the 'generic swirl' device (the one which precedes the 8pm bulletin) to introduce the news over the Christmas period, with this year's snow overlayed.

...or follow ITV1's example and use a standard ident to introduce the news Wink

There doesn't seem to be a 'tagged on' 'Wales' on the festive idents or breakbumpers on ITV1 W.

Perhaps they 'forgot' to add it on. Now where have I heard that before... Laughing

Didn't think they'd bother again this year so great to see they have - and a visually nice ident it is as well - the stings included. Reminds me a bit of 2005/06 BBC Two.

And at least the regular music is partly drowned out with something a bit more festive!

Now that I've seen it on screen, I have to say I'm very impressed. Even the music sounds sort-of-okish-in-a-kind-of-roundabout-way, no sorry the generic soundtrack is and always will be woeful but visually the ident is stunning.

Well done, ITV!

Wow - I am impressed. Didn't think they'd bother but that ident looks great.

It looks like stv hasn't done anything special this year (yet, anyway). All we have is a break bumper with swirling snow.
I don't see why they don't use the idents with the stars flying out from the "S", like they did a few years ago. The idents were still the same, but at least it was something sparkly. LOL

Very nice, and very surprising - though a shame they feel the need to play by the BBC's rules.

Remember that with the exception of continuity leading into regional programmes - which usually have the lake ident with the 'Wales' tag burned in directly beneath the logo in this fashion (image from The TV Room) - Welsh viewers now see the English continuity with 'Wales' superimposed 'live' in the bottom left of the picture. Thanks to the decision to put the ITV1 logo in the centre on the Christmas ident, it would be difficult to do this. It would be fair to say, then, that ITV didn't want to pay for three weeks of Welsh continuity that had the 'Wales' tag burned into the ident (this, of course, would be backtracking on the decision to abolish Welsh continuity in the first place 2/3 years ago).

Nonetheless, it's a fantastic set - though it's a pity we couldn't have a break from the music for a while. I wonder how it would sound with say, BBC 1's latest effort... (*nudge*)

Can anyone with a good memory remember which year it was ITV1 last had proper Christmas idents? Also which years had sparklies and which didn't have anything at all
