I know it's a little late, but I'm a new member to this excellent site! However, did any other region other than Granada use theire same usual ident over the Christmas and New Year period? Not a snowflake, robin or santa to be seen anywhere! No attempt to ' spruce ' it up at all. All other stations ( BBC and Satellite ) were very festive - but not Granada - no Christmas spirit !

I'm guessing that Tyne Tees and Yorkshire didn't have one either, because last year (well, 1999) they all had the same ones. I know however that HTV had their usual ident, except with a robin jumping aroung a bit.
There was no Christmas ident for Yorkshire either last year, which was very poor, kind of matched ITV's pitiful Christmas schedule, they just don't seem to bother. Don't know why when they had the generic hearts ident's created, they didn't have the foresight to throw in a christmas one. I can see it now, an ITV heart rotating on a Christmas tree, aahhh.
I thought they would appear a week before xmas, ok maybe not, maybe Xmas Eve, maybe they are keeping it for Xmas Day only.
Then when I switched on YTV on the 25th and saw some people loading a sofa into a removals van, and a couple of men mowing a field, It was very disappointing.
What I never understood was why couldn't they have just used their 1999 one?
Carlton had quite a few xmas idents, all however were recycled from 1999.

Yes, LWT's is very nice, a vast improvement on the bland spinning hearts. I e-mailed Granada to ask if they were going to change theirs to that, but did I get a reply? As the great Jim Royle would say, 'Reply, my arse'.
All broadcasters have some sort of filter system.
By this I mean, many will search for things such as 'IDENTS' and put them straight into the cyberbin!
For example, SkyToday@BSkyB.com is the way to avoid Sky's filter system, and it goes straight through to their PR dept. If you email dutyoffice@granadamedia.com (I think) they will nearly always reply.
