TV3 probably aren't pleased about ITV2's availablity, not really for themselves but for 3e which made a living out of repeating The X Factor (and other ITV catch-up programming) to infinity. Still, the relative EPG positions of TV3 (103) and 3e (106) compared to ITV2 (119) should mean the majority of Irish cable viewers will view on TV3/3e (or UTV).
ITV3 and ITV4 are less worries for them. ITV3 focuses mainly on old repeats while ITV4 focuses mainly on imports and, er, old repeats.
ITV having sold their stake in TV3 some time back, probably figure they have nothing to benefit from continuing to ignore the Irish market and that they might as well garner some advertising revenue from here. They'll probably launch advertising opt-outs for Ireland once the channels become established (though they would want to go on Sky too, which now that they have broached the Irish market is probably a possiblity.)
The ITV deal has been somewhat overshadowed by Chorus NTL's remarkable coup in getting ESPN to move from premium to basic tier, which I've commented on in the Sport Thread.

I think it's on Diva TV or something. I guess this whole situation within the Republic isn't new, it's just adding to it, ie the same programmes appearing on BBC/ITV/Channel 4 and then again on RTÉ/TV3, it probably gives you about 20 chances to see the same episode of Coronation Street now.

Guinness Premiership highlights on ITV4 apparently blocked for some Chorus NTL viewers tonight, the first time a UK programme has ever been blocked on Irish cable in nearly forty years of cable TV in Ireland. Rights issues maybe (although there is no broadcaster for the Guinness Premiership in ROI this season), but even more odd because the same highlights package has been screened without problem on UTV (and doubtless will be again tonight).
