It seems some ITV channels will be moving EPG numbers on Freeview today according to announcements on ITV2 and ITV3 during channel idents.

Why move ITV3 and 4 before 2? It makes no sense.

Either put ITV2, 3, 4 together or leave them alone.
Stupid people putting 2 after 3 and 4.

Sounds as if it's a red herring, it's so daft.

I thought that was just a mistake by ITV's web team... Confused

There is an element of logic to the move. Just an element.

ITV2 is very popular, so theory says the punters will follow it to a higher numbered channel.

ITV3 and 4 are less popular, so move them to lower numbers to, hopefully, pick up some nice, new punters.

That's the problem with having numbers like 1, 2, 3 & 4 in the channel name.

Whatever numbers they're on is an irrelevance. If you can remember a single-digit number you can remember a double-digit number.

More marketing men talking through their backsides again.

This numbering of channels winds me up.

A lot of boxes won't allow the renumbering of channels, so I'm stuck with what some committee, with an agenda thinks is the "best" permutation.

Well no, I'm sorry, this is crap. Let me decide how I want to number the channels.

I never watch ITV bloody 2, so why should it be on Channel 6? OK, now it isn't, but that's not the point.

If only someone would come up with a system of short codes for the channel names to make them easier to remember. Idea
