French Open still showing on ITV4 for me
Anyone else lose ITV channels briefly on satellite just now?
Was watching ITV4 at the time but ITV on 103 was also off.

Sky don't uplink ITV to Astra, Arqiva do I think. I don't know where, but if it's one of their two Winchester sites,
there's been a monumental downpour over the area in the last half hour, so probably rainfade.
It's back now, was off for just a few mins.
ITV Hub was fine so probably uplink to Sky knocked out briefly.

Happened to me on SkyHD, yes.
Definitely wasn't the signal as other channels were working.

As Markymark says, could well be the signal due to rain at the uplink: channels on Sky are uplinked from a variety of sites.

Wouldn't a major service such as ITV have backups in place to prevent weather-based interruptions?

Arqiva have other uplink sites so would presumably be able to switch to one of them.
However heavy rain the likes that takes out an teleport doesn't last long. By the time you realise what's going on, cut your carriers on the uplink, phone Astra and bring them back up on your alternative site..... the rain will most likely have passed.

The thread title is slightly misleading.
I thought ITV's channels were being dropped off Sky and we had a situation like ITV Digital when you had to watch ITV via their service.

Now that I look at that image, that is so short sighted of ITV. Because if I was flicking through the EPG, I now have no idea what they're airing. Why would I switch over if I might not be interested in the show. So that just reduces the viewing figures and therefore the value of advertisements on ITV.
(In this rhetorical situation, I don't have a paper TV guide available.)
Whereas if they actually put the guide information up, but had a "switch to tv mode" message on screen that would be better.
