ITV, channel 4,channel 5 and BskyB

does anybody know why BSKYB is going to drop ITV1 channel4,5 from there television service?

I heard that they where on my BBC local radio and am trying to look into this, One caller who called in was saying that he was recieving a warming banner on his TV while watching a programme on channel5 telling him that the service would be stopped from viewing. Even though it is a free to view channel

The BBC used to pay for the Solaris cards used by people to decryp the signals for BBC1, 2, ITV , 4 and five. When the BBC moved to broadcasting in the clear on a different satellite, none of the other broadcasters was prepared to cough up the cash for new cards and it certainly isn't in Sky's interest to keep that running. Until Sky launches its possible Freeview Plus service, the only ways, I believe, once your card stops decrypting the channels will be to:
take out a basic subscription package, or
watch them on analogue

Seems you can pay a one-off payment of £5 to keep ITV, 4 and 5. You just have to register to a porn channel. But you don't have to actually buy any porn. If you read the thead it will make more sense
